- Extraordinary7887754 contributionsWorth a visitIt is nice to walk around the marina and we felt safe and welcome. The town is more modern than old Hammamet and probably less appealing to people interested in architecture/ history. Shopkeepers vied for your business as you expect but were respectful.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten October 13, 2023
- what666532 contributionsModern Disneyland-type experienceYasmin is in "New Hammamet" and is built up and full of hotels catering to the 'average tourist". I found it a bit like Disneyland. The large souk is interesting (and fake) and prices were better in the old medina in old Hammamet and also in Nabeul. The main reason to go to Yasmin aside from the modern stores, is the nearby outstanding Barberousse Beach Club restaurant.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2023
- Sam M1 contributionLoved itStayed at houda yasmine. Very clean hotel and everyone was very hospitable. The animation team were fantastic and get everyone involved in activities especially Kaloutcha, a true gentleman. Ate most days at their restaurant, a large variety of world foods. Booked excursions at the hotel, went on a all round trip including Sahara desert which involved overnight stay. And booked quad bikes & camel rides there. Was absolutely amazing. Can't wait to come back to see my dear friends Kaloutcha, Karim, Pika & Slim ( the animation team).Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten December 28, 2023
- Soz AWolverhampton, United Kingdom9 contributionsRecommend to stay in a hotel here, not really to visitYasmine Hammamet is a area which is all based around hotels. Not much to do, but so relaxing a beautiful beach, riding camels are on offer. The marina is so beautiful during the evening/ day also so beautiful. There is areas where it’s not very cleanVisited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten January 5, 2024
- andycoldhamCrawley, United Kingdom1,032 contributionsInteresting group of shopsThe jasmine medina is in New Hammamet and was in walking distance of our hotel. It has a grand entrance some interesting shops and some great photo opportunities. The shop keepers and restaurant owners do try and encourage tourists into their shops but they are not aggressive ( unlike experiences I have had in Egypt and Morroco) and a firm no thanks is sufficient. There is a scam where locals pretend they work at your hotel, but we took some sports wrist bands to cover our bands and were never approached. One shop we did venture into was the Le Secret de Parfums in the medina. As the name suggests its a perfume shop selling well known brand names at a fraction of their retail price as well as some local Arabic perfumes. The lady who runs the shop was Worovo, and a more pleasant and helpful person you could not ask to find. Fluent in English, French and Arabic, she let my wife try umpteen types of perfume and when she finally decided to buy some, then allows you to choose your style of bottle. The whole experience was full of laughter and fun, and very reasonably priced. If you are in the Medina at any time at all, do pay this shop a visit.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten March 12, 2024
- romanshornerMunich, Germany1,277 contributionsNice Beach CityIt is a little city with a beach. They have a nice beach promenade and a broad beach. There are free sections and sections where you have to pay. On the other side of the promenade, there are several shops, where you can buy souvniers or beach things. Nearby, there is also a nice Marina. Inside the city, there is the Medina, a big shopping center and Carthageland, a big leisure park.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten May 30, 2024
- Amy10 contributionsAn English tourists opinionA destination if you want to spend more time in a hotel than going out to explore the location. Not huge amounts to do, it’s surprising just how many hotels are here but no a great deal to do. If walking around, be prepared to be pestered by shop employees trying to get you to visit their shop. Sometimes a simple no doesn’t work and we found just continuing to walk past made it easier to not be drawn into conversations. They love to try and draw you in using sale tactics such as ‘I’m the cook at your hotel and it’s my day off’ to engage in a conversation and then try and get you in a shop. Black Friday sales were on everyday, so don’t believe that they are putting on a once only flash sale. For someone who enjoys looking around shops on holiday, this actually put me off wanting to go out and look at shops and found myself trying to cross the road in order not to be bothered. The beaches are mostly sectioned by hotel owned beaches, so this was good that you knew you could always get a space from your hotel and a sunbed which didn’t need to be paid for. The beaches are generally clean and the water on a calm sea day can be clear in parts. Not the clear water sea that I was hoping for though. Be prepared to be approached by people selling things on the beach. The use of animals such as turtles and chameleons are used to draw you in. If you take anything from them or have pictures, be prepared to pay some money towards it. Horse and carriages/carts are used to take tourists to different locations along the sea front and by Carthage land. So most of the time there is a strong smell of urine around those areas. For me, I just felt sorry for the horses as I didn’t see them get fed and watered once. People follow no real rules when driving, so make sure you look when crossing the road. Taxis can be found quite easily at the large roundabout, I would recommend asking how much to a destination before getting in so you know how much they are likely to charge you. If you smoke, best to buy cigarettes on your plane journey over, unless you don’t mind smoking fake cigarettes. Lots of shops will try and sell you cartons and always more than one at a time. Most of these are no good.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten September 3, 2024

I would urge all hotel owners to do as Le Royal and keep their beaches clean from plastics and rubbish. I understand that the sea brings in the plastics. surely all hotel owners can club together to pay people to keep the beach clean

Some men wound keep talking to me and say that they work in my hotel and that they served me food such as pizza and today is their holiday. This was so strange as I didn’t recognise any of them and I didn’t even eat pizza that day or night. I am a single parent with only my son so this was very scary and put me off Tunisia all together! The men are so reluctant in talking to me even when I have said no several times. If they feel their English is good, they try to talk to me more. The shops in the Medina have very greedy and disgusting men who pressure you to go into their shops or buy something if you even look at any of their items. Over a few days, I managed to leave to say ‘no’ and walking away also helps. Their shops have things that are not special or unique to Tunisia and are usually knockoffs and they will sell to tourists for triple the price! Avoid at all costs! Only Carthage land park itself is good but avoid the shops and practice saying ‘no’ and don’t bother making eye contact as they will try to coerce you into going into their shops and buying things. Also, the men who run the horse and carriages will always want tourists to take a ride even if you have taken a ride already. Again just say ‘no’ and ignore at all costs. Don’t feel forced into doing anything such as buying or talking to anyone you don’t want to like I was forced to. It has been a horrible experience for me and I do not wish this upon anyone else especially a female on her own or with kids. Tourists are treated like they are made of money compared to the locals or natives who visit. Just be careful when you are here.

Enfidha airport is horrible! Horrible experience at this airport this weekend flying back with 2 kids. Was flying via eastjet back to London and these people were acting as animals, totally unprofessional and unhelpful. I needed to pay for bags and they did not accept contactless payment and they did not offer any other way to pay. They are totally merciless and ruthless, even in the month of Ramadan! Totally animalistic behaviour giving Islam a bad name! Racist too I think, perhaps they acted this way because I am black! Please avoid this country and definitely avoids this airport!

If you are English do not use this hotel, absolutely horrendous time, treated like we were 2nd class citizens, hotel dirty, no hand sanitizer anywhere, dirty toilets floors always wet through. Reception and bar staff very rude. Food absolutely disgusting, all in Arabic or French, i lived off olives and omelet for 10 days. At the bar no coke 0, not fanta, no sprite, first night there they run out of wine, beach bar asked for a beer to be told no beer and we would have to pay, we asked why should be pay when we are all inclusive they replied this bar was al cart which was untrue. The cleaners left our door open 4 times, we complained to the reception staff to be told oh sorry she must have forgotten. We complained to the manager of the hotel but his English was very limited and didn't do anything to solve our issues. I am just about to complain to Love Holidays about this holiday, please please keep away. We also witnessed 2 drownings, 2 flights and a man having a heart attack, the only good thing was the weather.

They tell you that they are cooks of your hotel to try to create trust and con you by taking you to places where they charge commission, low quality products at gold prices, liars and rags, it is not a medina where they trade, is oriented to con the tourist. However much you think you’re haggling, they’ll always try to charge you more than a quarter of their price. We have Morocco next door to enjoy the medina of Tetouan for example to leave in love with its culture and customs. Nothing to do with it. First place on the right when entering the Hammamet medina, the worst. Don't even stop and talk, they treat us like fools thinking that with their lies you're going to share something with them and if you don't, they even insult you.

A pleasant place to while away an afternoon watching the world go by. Lots of restaurants and cafés to choose from offering lovely views over the extensive marina. Just a word of warning for the less mobile (like myself), the walkway surfaces are pretty dire in places, slabs mostly cracked and uneven. Just watch where you are going. A few locals trying to get you into their shops, or saying they are the waiter from your hotel (which they are not), are always hanging around but a firm no thank you usually suffices. Worth a visit if only for the ice cream sundae at Canari

Beautiful beach, clean sea. Good weather, warm, with some wind between late morning and late afternoon. I recommend visiting the Yasmin Medina and the amusement park "Chartage Land". From Yasmin, I recommend excursion to Tunis, Roman Thermas of Carthage and Sidi Bou Said. The journey takes about 1 hour to Tunis. We contracted the tour with the company that made the transfer from the airport to the hotel and paid € 40 pp. Regarding Hammamet, I recommend the visit to the medina. The city is dirty and degraded and the beach is not inviting.

Hi, I’m travelling at the end of June with my two daughters, 18 and 20. The eldest wants to go off exploring the local shops on her own.. From experience, will she feel safe or will she be hounded by shopkeepers etc? I know she’s an adult but would you be comfortable with your 20 year old daughter going exploring? I’m feeling reluctant until I’ve checked it out myself.

In my opinion, sellers do not work like in Arab stores. This is a mostly Buddhist country, so you should be less stressed :)

Would anyone know how much a taxi from Yasmin Hammamet to Tunis would cost and would I be better pre booking a taxi and would there be any reputable companies I could book with . Tia
Written June 12, 2019
There were a couple of sites on Google that we used to pre book taxis. They showed a range of rates and the cars and drivers were much better than local taxis, which are pretty nasty and none we found had seat belts, air con or drivers who spoke English. The booking sites are pre paid and include tip, driver contact and no surprises.
