Worth a visit if you can go and explore at your own pace. There is soo much to explore than just what you see from the roadside. We were lucky that when we arrived a local man from the area asked if we wanted anything...More

Although it poured with rain we really enjoyed our trip to Xanthous and could not believe we could walk so freely this ancient city. A real historical experience.

Incredibly cheap to walk around the ruins, something like £2 each! Very rough terrain, so unsuitable for old or infirm if you want to actually walk amongst the ruins. Also a good place to venture out to when its not a beach or pool day....More

If you are interested in the history of Turkey it is a nice place to spend a morning or afternoon. It is only about 30 minutes drive from Kalkan.

A large city still being excavated. The Lycian people must have been fierce and proud as they defended their city from invaders over the centuries. Ruins are interesting - the theatre with its metallic sounding rocks amongst the steps a highlight.

The capital city and a must if you're interested in Lycian history. Do Letoon, Xanthos and Petara in the same day and you could also visit Tlos. Some marvellous ruins and history.

I cannot mask my excitement. I learned about theperfect accoustics of Xanthos theatre as a student of Hellenic theatre and waited over thirty years to make my pilgrimage.... This is the ultimate Greco-Roman Theatre, with hollowed out seats to improve already great accoustics, the results...More

Not very far but as we had a car as part of our villa package I cannot tell you much. Bus is probably a good option. Xanthos is a couple of miles beyond the Patara turn off the main road and there always seem to be taxis at... More
