My wife and I stumbled across this shop and so glad we did. There wasn’t any high pressure sales or tactics when we arrived. Ramsey showed us around and treated us as family. He was genuine and trustworthy. We ended up coming back multiple days just to visit and converse. A true friendship was developed that will last longer than our vacation to Turkey. Ramsey showed us around Cappadocia and took us out to lunch and never asked for anything. We took a free pottery class and learned about Turkish culture. Inside the store are cave rooms filled will beautiful works of art. It’s a must visit if you are anywhere in the area.

There are many places to try pottery in Avanos, but this place was recommended to us by the locals and it was a great choice!
We were a group of 4 friends very happy to try to make our own vases and bowls.
It was such a fun experience! And we did it for free. A tip, don't wear light and new clothes when you do that, because you can get dirty even though you are wearing an apron.
It would be a fun activity for kids also.
After the workshop, we had a store visit and bought some very nice pieces!
We highly recommend!

Artistic ceramics are produced in many Turkish towns (e.g. Iznik, Kütahya, Avanos). I specially like those produced in Avanos because they are more in accordance with my aesthetic views than those produced elsewhere. In fact the Avanos ceramists don’t overload their products with lots of decoration and avoid bizarre concoctions of colours intended to force the attention of the most naive folks; at the same time they reveal artistic ingenuity in creating pleasant forms for their products. In this way, the Avanos products show more aesthetic dignity than other productions.
Among the many galleries of Avanos I particularly appreciated the Çarşı Seramik Shop. It is an immense shop just in the centre of the village: its products are stacked within a row of cavernous cellars (and you have to be careful in walking through them) and the number and variety of items on display is impressive. Some of them are beautiful, others are less beautiful, but none of them appeared kitschy to me. So, even if you don’t want to purchase anything, I suggest that you pay a visit to this place: it will be a feast for your eyes. I bought a blue amphora and a large plate, both covered with a net of minuscule graffiti: I liked their pleasant forms and the abstract elegance of the design covering their surfaces, which gave them a very "classic" touch; they now display prominently in my living room.
Anyway, you should be aware that the prices are not light. The tags attached to the items show completely disproportionate prices; so much that the vendor hastens to disclose that the real prices are at least 50% lower. But even so the prices remain high and negotiation becomes a necessity. The vendors are very kind. During the visit you are likely to be shown a demonstration of crafting.

The designer ceramics of the store, the cave-like underground rooms and the friendliness of the owners were wonderful, but we bought everything from there when we thought we would buy just one thing and leave. If you go to Avanosa, you should definitely stop by...

The employees are friendly and attentive, especially Mr. Abdullah's chat. I can't get enough of it. :) You can't come to Avanos and leave without making mud, and the prices are reasonable as it is a family business.
