This was the second time I had a chance to watch the Whirling Dervish Ceremony. And I mistakenly thought that the years that had passed in between the two occasions had made me wiser. The 13th century caravan serai that serves as a stage is beautiful in its location and austerity. The weather was just perfect, clear skies and slightly... More

Like many ethnic traditions, there is more to them than just the part people know. The whirling is just that, part of a bigger religious ceremony. That said, I'd highly recommend this place to see the complete experience. It is really well set up and if you don't know anything about the ceremony (as indeed I didn't) it is wise... More

The Sema ceremony has 7 parts. Each part symbolizes a stage of the mystic journey to perfection. Whirling is one of the steps. Their arms are open with their right hands directed to the sky to receive God's blessing and they turn their left hands to the earth. They turn from right to left pivoting around the heart, conveying God's... More

Being a culture and art lover , I have been to watch the show with high expectation and hopefully it didn't disappointed me . The mix of Islamic devotion ,the musicians magic and the guys who spin ( whirl ) for half and hour is great to watch .

I was excited to see Whirling Dervishes , as Turkish traditions. Only what can I say ... Perhaps my expectations was too big , because after I was disappointed a lot. It was just a very short (aroun 40 min ; though they tells 1 hour) show , enough boring and not interesting at all. I think it was made... More

Good way to see and listen to this religious ceremony as an enactment. We enjoyed the experience and found the time was about right. The location was atmospheric and gave a good sense of what it must be like - worth seeing. As for price - good quality tourist ventures cost a bit more!

If you want to see the actual whirling dervishes. This is not the place to visit. What you get is a small stage with 4 dervishes who don't even get into a complete trance and are really slow. It costs 25 euros and is not worth it at all.

I was looking forward to seeing the Dervishes as I had "done my homework" on the history and culture of this experience. It was better than I expected. The venue, a caravanserasi on the Silk Road very much added to the experience. Watching these men twirl, and noting the calm expressions on their faces was a relaxing experience for me.... More

I went in with no expectations and really enjoyed the experience. Initially upon entering the place, I saw bus loads of tourists and felt that I was in for a commercial experience. However the brochure handed gives a clear explanation to the origin of the whirling dervis practise, the significance of each segment. Most of all, once the dervish began,... More

Overall its a fifty minute show where five people showcase their talent to maintain balance while rotating continuously. The atmosphere created is very relaxing and soothing. Unfortunately I didn't understand the prayer they were saying. They ended it with a sherbat servedvto all guests. You ought to see it if you haven't seen it before.
