What a lovely town. First went to the hair museum, entrance is free. Over 3 million pieces of women's hair. It was started in 1979. Had a bite at the Macdonalds, must be the best Macdonalds I have ever seen worth popping in even if you aren't eating. The town has its weekly market on a Friday, rows of fresh... More

We travelled with RSD Travel to this amazing region of Turkey. The hotel was average but the region is amazing and very well worth a visit. Just remember 4/5 star in Turkey is not the same as the UK except the drinks prices !! The overall experience was extremely good and the places we visited were most interesting. I opted... More

Avanos famous for its pottery and for the Kızılırmak (Halys in ancient times) River. After visiting the ceramic workshops in Avanos, take a stroll along the banks of the Kızılırmak or walk on the suspended cable bridge. There are several restaurants and cafes to sit and relax with some Turkish coffee or chay and enjoy the view.

This is a stunning example of the cave houses and really beautiful to walk around. It can be very hot so be prepared.

The cooperatives running this ceramic business are perhaps disconnected with the world and choose to be unaware that much better pottery is available at a fraction of the price. I see no reason why anyone should buy their products.

You can feel decadence and abandon in Avanos, you can sense it used to be a stunningly beautiful settlement. Now only ruins remain. Still worth a visit, but not compelling enough to call for a long stay.

In the small town of Avanos there is a proliferation of ceramic art centers. Here ceramic artistry is at the 'cottage-industry' level and provides a good opportunity to buy gifts and souvenir artefacts.

The places were equially beautiful and misterious than the previous day. Avanos is famous for lots of things including ceramics. Food was made in heaven! Sorry, I am a fan of turkish food.
