This site was far more impressive than we had expected. Located in the center of the city, it is easy to reach on foot. The layout of the old agora is clearly visible, along with inner chambers for goods storage and shops, extensive rows of columns, and many other features. There are some helpful labels explaining what you are seeing, though there could be more. The directional arrows can be a bit confusing, but I'm sure everyone makes it out! We spent far more time there than we had expected to because there was a lot to see. Well worth it.

Very nicely preserved and clean with magnificent historical significance. There is one section that the archeologists were still working on so we could not walk through it but we watched them as they unearthed little pots and miniature statues. It was a lovely sight to see. We spent about one hour walking around.

There was only one other visitor when I arrived at this attraction at 9:30 a.m. Entrance fee is 100 Turkish Lira per person. There are arches that are still in good condition. These arches supported the upper areas of the Agora. Noted 3 areas where underground waters are coming from. For me, the best areas of this attraction are the marble columns lining up outside. Also noted lying down on the ground are various remnants of the destroyed Agora.
Restoration continues to go on here. Noted some men working here dueing my visit.

It's not a very big place and won't take too much time to visit. Nonetheless quite interesting to visit if you are in Izmir. You can take some really good photos here too.

This archeological site in the center of Izmir, the ancient city of Smyrna, was surprisingly large, informational, and well maintained.

While in Izmir I walked to the Agora museum. Very easy to find and a fairly nice walk. The Agora is a pretty interesting site, especially the water and little canals that run under it. Only about half of the site is open as it looks as if they are still excavating a larger area of the ruins. Would be interesting to come back one day once it is fully open to the public.

Merhaba. Ben 2 senedir İzmirde olmama rağmen henüz gidemedim. Yarın arkadaşlarımla gitmeyi düşünüyorum. Fakat giriş çıkış durumu saatleri hakkında bilgiye ihtiyacım var. Son olarak oraya nasıl gidebilirim hangi otobüsleri kullanabilirim.

Hello,
This is so easy, when do you come to Izmir port by Cruise ship, than take a taxi and give agora (historical place) adress. Approximately from port to Agora 15 minutes. You'll pay apprx. 3 or 5 $ for taxi.

Can someone tell as I m a little confused .
Is Agora in Izmir and Agora open air museum of Izmir in two different locations ,as the map indicates ,or the map is wrong maybe and both are in one spot?
Thank you.

Yes you are right. Because one for Agor is big shopping mall in other side in the Izmir city (in Balçova). Real historical place of Agora is in city center. In this respect many people live the same problem.
Best Regards,
