We are on the way to Ankara leaving cappadocia~~ and pass by Tuz lake to have lunch with the tour group. The lake is huge and the water has receed so much away from the original. Didnt walk that far because the weather was hot in the day. Just took a picture and left after.

We travel from cappadocia with our hire car. Best time to travel after 3pm. Heat get less. On navigation is funny we have to ask local people to find this lake. If you travelling from cappadocia pass salt lake city and another 20KM then you will see on the left. We really enjoyed it.

Maybe we didn't stop in the best place even if the one we chose was touristy equipped. The access to the salt lake was basically all mud. Short stop, a couple of photos and we left. In my opinion it is worth stopping if the attraction is on the street.

Beautiful salt flat. We went in the afternoon but I heard that it’s best to go in the morning. We did the the reflection of the sky in the water. Worth a visit. We stopped by for a short while on our drive fr capadocia to Istanbul.

A nice stop between Ankara and Cappadocia. It was low tide when we were there so the water was a bit far to reach. There were a few that were having lunch on the salt flats. We didn't see any birds around.
There is a market which sells sea salt beauty products, snacks, and other merchandise.

Supposed to be a serene place where you can walk away on naked feet on the Salt Lake but you have to wash your feet at a cost of 1 Turkish Lira (they know how to bring in the money).
As usual, some souvenir shops that sell items from other places just in case you have missed them out previously.
Just a beach with some sand and salt as you walk deeper into the lake, which is very shallow.

TUZ GULO is a large area of lake salt, an hour and a half away from Ankara, a must to visit, many people visit it to walk on salt, a cure for body pain, there is a shop where you can buy some soap and cream made of salt, there is a restaurant you can eat and drink coffee and tea.

We stopped on our way from Capadoccia to Istanbul. The store and restaurant looks horrible and is sooo expensive with nothing special and in the lake the mud is everywhere in April. Probably its better to visit during summer.
Not impressed at all..
Wouldn't t recommend it as a out of the way trip but if its on your way take a pic😉

We rented a car in Göreme with only 32 € and we arrived at salt lake after 2 hours driving...our direction was for tuz golu,as several receptions suggested...we appreciated but on the return trip, better views appeared,so we stopped our car and walking we reached fantastic places characterized by pink salt with meravillous landscapes....(see my photos)...in conclusion our suggestion is to go by car and to stop before to arrive to the ‘famous guz tolu ‘...trust me!

This was a great place to take a stop during our drive. The lake is beautiful, and the water was already picking up its summer pinkish color from the algae. Shoes must be removed near the lake. Walking barefoot on the loose salts was fine, but the salt bed in the water was very hard, making it difficult to walk. We still managed to walk out far enough to be by ourselves. When leaving the beach, a chair or two was available for putting on footwear. We also washed our hands at a sink near the shops. This was a great way to break up a drive.

I realize you went to Tuz Golu a long time ago. I'm traveling with my family this summer. We are ages 65, 60, 25 and 17. I'm thinking of going from Goreme to Tuz Golu to Konya, and then take the train to Istanbul. The other option would be to just fly from Goreme to Istanbul and not go to Konya at all. Any thoughts on that?
