Family run hotel, fabulous rooms all with amazing views. Owner couldn’t do enough for his guests.
Traditional Turkish food, modest choice but excellent fresh produce used served with genuine pride and attention to detail.
Wonderful breakfast with stunning views whilst you eat.
Highly recommend this wonderful little gem of a hotel on glorious Sovalye island Turkey.

What a beautiful little gem of a hotel! Kemal and Erston made us so welcome. This boutique hotel is the perfect place to hide from the world. The views are stunning and there seems to be a stillness to be enjoyed. The owners lent us swim shoes, beach towels, and allowed us to experience kayaking and paddle boarding under the expert supervision of Kemal. The hotel is pristine and filled with a warm welcome. Sovalye Hotel is the perfect hideaway, whilst being so accessible!

Lots of visitors to Turkey may know the town of Fethiye which is s beautiful town and resort which is very up and coming. What many do not know is the tiny island of Sovalye just minutes off its coast. This place is a hidden gem. A little bit like a scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Steeped in Byzantine history this was where the Knights of St John had a settlement, the ruins and mosaics amongst the trees and shrubs are still evident today. No cars no roads. Just rustling trees and very few paved paths. A couple of hotels and apartments and some splendid villas. A fantastic restaurant/beach club (Ada restaurant belonging to the fab Ece Boutique Hotel). This is a little haven. So tranquil and removed from the hustle and bustle of Fethiye yet only minutes by boat away. This is an island for the discerning traveller. In the morning when the sea is calm you can see the foundations of the ancient ruins under the water. At this same time you may also see (amongst the schools of fish, turtles and sometimes dolphins and seals) people out snorkelling, kayaking and paddle boarding! A slice of historic tranquil paradise yet only minutes from the mainland! Shhhhh don't tell anyone.

Sovalye - or Fethiye or Megri island is a natural , historical and sea view paradise. Quiet, calm , relaxing and so close to the mainland if you are intrested or need something.
By years it has been impoving , many houses build by rich people from Turkey and abroad. It is a shame the passion is to have the house not to live in it .
Now it has 2 hotels ( Ece Boutique and Sovalye Hotel) , 2 apartments ( Mer and haven) and couple of houses for rentals .
For eating and drinking there is a beach club and cafe in the open sea bay owned by city hall and run privately . From breakfat to dinner you can visit Ada restaurant , a well known restaurant by the hill near by Ece Boutique Hotel close to Calis ( owners used to run the same place where there is now the Sovalye Adasi beach Club)
Swimming , sunbathing, chilling, relaxing, snorkelling, canoeing, and paddle surfing over ancient ruins are couple of things you could do if you want to do something else more than chilling out , view watching and enjoying food in one of the places.

We stayed here for 6 nights and it was heavenly most villas had a private beach on both sides and we went sea kayaking thanks to our incredible host Sahin who's villa can be found on airbnb. Lovely island just of Fethiye and that is a perfect place to relax.

First visit here which was very peaceful - I imagine it could be hectic in the height of the summer. Sovalye should be fairly immune though as it is an island. About 3/4mile long with really one footpath along the length - the central section does have a small circular route. There are the remains of various (no doubt ancient) ruins and if you venture out at dusk or in low light - watch out for unguarded underground vaults / cisterns often hidden by discarded garden waste! It is fascinating to imagine what it was like in this region in the past and how the place may have looked in its prime. A trip around the island by canoe also lends a different perspective.

My Husband and myself went over for the day, picked up by speedboat, in Çaliş, had the pick of the sunbeds, no one near us. Totally relaxing, no one bothered us. Few drinks lovely lunch, and speedboat trip back. Highly recommend.

It's worth going to Sovalye just for the 20 minute boat trip. A water taxi makes 4/5 trips return trips each day with the final boat back at 7pm and (July 2013) the return trip costs 10 TL per person. Almost the entire journey is within Fethiye bay so there's little if any danger of feeling queasy. The boat is easy to spot if you walk around Fethiye harbour towards the new Marina. Be warned - it doesn't run to a precise schedule so make sure you are always at the pick up point 10 - 15 mins before the advertised departure time.

Sovalye is by no means the peaceful paradise it was when I stayed there 25 years ago and when wild turkeys and tortoises were commonplace. However, it's still relatively untouristy (there is one small hotel and a bar/restaurant) and when we visited there were only two families on the private beach.

The private beach isn't huge but it's provided with facilities such as traditional tent-like areas in which to relax and cool from the sun and fresh water. Not sure of the charge as we didn't stay there but you'll see it on the left hand side just as you come off the boat. There is a cordoned off safety area where boats are forbidden so it's great for children.

It is possible to find other places to swim around the island but the beaches are small and very stony and won't have any facilities. You might also find that you end up sharing them with half a dozen noisy boats from the 12 island cruises. If that worries you, get there earlier in the morning as most of the public trips seem to pitch up mid-afternoon.

You'll probably also want to take a picnic and PLENTY of water as all food and drink in the bar/restaurant is, not surprisingly, much more expensive than on the mainland.

Sovalye has a rich history and you can still see some ruins along the path but private housing has now taken over the wilderness I remembered. However, it's still an interesting and reasonably quiet place to swim and sunbathe.

This lovely island in Fethiye bay is a great place to visit. There is a restaurant named ADA which is a great venue for watching the sun go down while you enjoy a meal. The houses are private, but there is still room to stroll and enjoy the views all around you

The ada restaurant will send a boat over to pick you up you will be taken to their private beach and given their sunbeds umbrella's and tables to use in exchange you will not take your own food and drink over but enjoy their hospitality at the end of the day on will pay your food and drink bill with 10 lire added for each person to cover the wages of the boatman
It is money sell spent as just go sit on that terrace on a hot day is wonderful and although you can pay less for the food at other restaurants you will think the exclusive setting is worth paying a fee lire extra fof
