From the top you can see the city and van lake, it is fantastic. There is bicycle station at entrance and also there is a cafe with chai and turkish coffee. Good place to spend 2-3hours

This is a huge fortress which has been built on top of a hill overlooking the Van Lake. The entrance fee is very reasonable and there is a nice walkway to climb up the hill and reach the top. What I also much appreciated was...More

The castle boasts a very good view of the city and is a pleasant walk up. The one face boasts ancient cuneiform writings . Best to visit early mornings when it is not too hot.

We were there to visit. Slightly unprotected and presence of graffiti but nonetheless, good tourist site to go only if u have time.

If you are going there during summer do not forget water and wear comfy shoes, you have to walk patiently till get to the top and see the amazing view of city and ancient walls of castle there.

I would recommend Alkan Tours. We did a tour last year with a lovely driver called Murat. There are also minibuses to these sights.

As I know each hotel has its own daily tour for these places. You can go to lake Van, Akdamar Island & Holy Cross Church in one time and Cat House (Kedi Evi) and Van Castle in another. If I remember these 2 round for one day... More

We visited Van in May and the advice to rather get a bus from Tatvan to Van is very good. There are many good and reliable bus companies operating from Tatvan and it will be no problem to get a bus. Have a good trip.
