This is the focal place of Uzhgorod and entire Ruthenia. This is the real treasure and the place that is a must see. Here a visitor will encounter the real history of humble Ruthenian people, their exquisite woodcraft, their historic homes, their beehives and churches. A visitor will be amazed with a wooden church brought from Mukachevo region accompanied with... More

Great open air museum in Uzhgorod, next to the Uzhgorod castle. Entrance is very cheap and museum is very interesting. Every Sunday from 10 or 11 there is religious service in wooden church in museum (entrance is free of charge).

I really enjoyed walking through the open air museum and was pleasantly surprised by it, even if I also have one back home which I find to be very good as well. First of all, enter to get a ticket - unfortunately no one speaks English around and a we had a guard gesticulating and turning us around until we... More

The museum is not difficult to find, it is situated just next to the castle, entrance fee was 25 UAH. The skanzen is not that large but it shows different types of buldings from many areas of Subcarpathian Rus and you do not get bored as may happen in places where there are too many exhibits to see. I was... More

Circa 1800's Austria-Hungary Carpatho-Rusyn wooden buildings and village.Buildings are all original, not replica’s, relocated from various villages in local area. Terrific photo opportunity. Well worth a visit. Close to Carpathian History Museum main entrance.

We visited after school had begun in fall. Small nominal fee is required. The entrance is adjacent to the Castle entrance.

This museum is a small village that consists of authentic houses from different areas of the Carpathian region. Besides there is a 18th century wooden church built without a single nail, a school and a mill. All the dwellings are so different, rich and poor, from mountains and from valleys. The diversity is striking. My kids were excited, they were... More

If your family heritage is from this area, this is a must see. It gives a real impression of what village life was like in the 19th century.

Visiting the open air museum is a big pleasure while spring or summer. The houses are well-preserved. To most of them one can enter individually, some of them have supervisors sitting and monitoring near. The museum has great and varied resources but some of them could be protected and preserved better, for example we've found icons standing or lying outside... More

It's a great open air museum, located in the ceter of the city just outside of the walls of the castle. The houses presented in the museum are from different regions of Zakarpatie. The wooden church is very interesting and very well preserved. It is a beautiful walk. Unfortunately not much information in English is available.
