Huge amount of camels, traders, and Bedouin specialists - most of them from the Rashaide tribe in Sudan. Have a look around, try to hear the negotiations, ask for a sip of the fresh camel milk. It is sad, though, to think that all those camels, including the young ones, are sold for their meat.

Unless one goes early in the morning, there is a fee to enter this huge complex. We had to pay 63 UAE for 2 people/tourists. The officer records your license plate number and cell phone.
"Local characters" like to take the tourist to show them baby animals, most specifically days- old camels. After that these “guides” expect hefty sums as payment; the entire encounter is safe, but uncomfortable.
If one goes more to the middle of this large animal market, one can see auctioning or bartering of the camels from incoming and outgoing trucks. This place is where the action is intense and interesting.
Also on the outskirts of the camel, sheep, goat area of this complex are places of business ranging from veterinarians to pet stores to feed stores, to plant nurseries, and lots of hay for all the animals and bamboo sellers. This is generally not frequented by tourists.
The huge Bowadi Mall is on Zayed Bin Sultan Street near the Camel market.

This is very much a working Camel and Goat market so expect to be one of very few tourists. It's a lively place, with lots of shouting and encouragemnent to buy or at the very least to take photos for a price. However, with a polite 'no' to a photo opportunity with a baby camel the vendors are happy to leave you alone to wander among the pens which house Camels (and Goats) of all ages. We spent a fascinating 15 minutes walking around the Souk and then went on to visit the Plant Souk in the same complex.

I love this sort of thing it was bit intimidating as i was the only tourist, i think lost fo the Camel shepherds wanted a photo taken and then money, this place is big so i drove further in found where they were trading and got noting but great hospitality form people especially the ones selling adn buying driving around in cars,. chatted to many great people from the UAE adn neighbouring countries who were camel dealers.

While in Al Ain, my wife and I visited this camel market. Though the market primarily featured camels, there were other animals available for sale, including goats. A highlight of our visit to the market was seeing the somewhat rare black camel. During our visit, we learned that the camels are sold for many purposes including milk, tourist activities and meat. For those who eat meat, grilled camel and camel biryani are delicious dishes! I found the vendors to be friendly; just be polite and there should not be a problem with visiting the camels and even taking photographs.

Saw different camels from different countries in addition to other animals sold for local use. Only negative side is the constant harassing from the guys there trying to hustle you for money to take pictures with the animals.

This is a great place full of local culture. Go early in the morning to avoid the heat. I would not recommend women going alone. Do not let the workers there talk you into going into an animal pin to pet/photograph the animals. They will lock the door and ask for money to get out. You don't need a local escort, just be careful. The care for the animals is not cruel but is different than a westerner may be comfortable with. The surrounding souk is great to explore. Even if you don't get out of the car, you can see amazing things.
