During our short stay in RAK, we were trying to find places to visit for free and we found this gem. Dhayah Fort is a must visit ancient heritage once you visit RAK. The place is easy to find and has a good view of the mountain. Don't forget to bring on your water as you'll be required to do 200+ steps to reach the hilltop. Once there, you'll be able to see the great views around the area. Park has an explanation of the Fort's history as well.

We were practically along at this site. It seems that it is relatively off the beaten track. There are indeed quite a few forts in the UAE, but this location is mesmerizing. The climb is easy and it is made easier but the excellent explanations and photos along the way. Entrance is free. Highly recommended.

Making the journey to Dhaya Fort is all part of the experience, as is the climb. It’s fairly easy to stop and take a breath and soak up the view, and there are information boards revealing different parts of the Fort’s and the surrounding region’s lengthy history.

Dhaya Fort itself is stunning with a backdrop of mountains and date farms on one side, the Gulf to the fore. A site of immense history, with settlements dating back to the Bronze Age and the place where Ras Al Khaimah defended itself against the British in 1820.

Our guide from the RAK Department of Antiquities & Museums was incredibly informative and great fun!

Couldn't recommend a visit here enough. It's a climb and a half up the steps and in the sun (and made worse when you have a bad hips) but so worth it. Amazing views and history and very well kept. A must see.

This fort was on my RAK day tour. Once you climb to the top (and you need to be fit enough to do so), you get some very impressive views of the adjacent mountains and landscape. The fort itself gives a taste of the old history of this emirate. Worth a visit.

Liked the place. A bit tough but a good climb. Well maintained fort. Good view below. And the limestone mountain behind. Very far from Dubai. You have to time it so that you reach either early morning or early evening. Worth a visit

It’s easily the fortress with the most stunning view in the UAE. With mountains to the east and palm oases disappearing into the sea on the west, it’s a great viewing spot for both sunset and sunrise. With kid-friendly steps leading to the top directly from a decent sized parking lot, it ticks many family-friendly boxes. If you’re polite enough with the staff at the guest house, they’ll probably let you use the toilet there too.

After a long walk, you get an average city view. the place is small but historically important. Good place for those interested in some History. Difficult to climb with old people and kids.

I liked it, it is real. It is a small hillside fort that is well maintained and quite lovely although simple. There are nice views there and if you're instagram minded quite a few nice shots to be had. The stairs up are moderately challenging but not too bad if you take your time. I'd recommend it on a quiet day, especially if you can watch the sun set from there. It's also free which is a price I like. :-)
