We'd arranged our own half day trip for 3 of us with the cove rotana hotel tours office...as we didn't fancy the camel farm and museum that was part of the regular tour. So we wanted to do the fort, ghost city, fish market and...More

the fort protects an oasis, difficult to see where the oasis is now from the top. Lots of steps, great view from the top and the history board saying it was used only once was an interesting read. Worth a visit as part of your...More

Steep climb up. Very Scenic location. Has a guest house as the start point for basic need like water, refreshments and Arabic food. Go only in winter, or in the evenings when the climate is good. We met a lone climber, who had got dehydrated...More

This interesting little fort is a little difficult to find. The best way would be to ask people to direct you to the Qalat al Dhaya Rest House situated at the bottom of the hill on top of which the Dhaya Fort is situated. It...More

Since this renovated fort is on every brochure of Ras Al Khaima, I expected that there would be at least one single modest road sign to turn right from the main road going east of RAK... but no. It was really a quest to find...More

Situated near a dessert oasis with fantastic views of Ras al Khaimah, The climb to the top is a bit steep but the view is well worth it. A good tour guide (Safarak) showed us many sights and educated us on local life and culture.
