Four routes, each divided into ten sections by stopping and refueling stations, lead up to Mt. Fuji's snow-covered tip. You don't have to be a die-hard mountaineer to climb Mt. Fuji; the slopes are full of children and adults of all ages, shapes, and sizes. The official climbing season only runs from the beginning of July to the end of August, but you can take the train from Toyko to the fifth station any season.

Mount Fuji's beautiful cone can be seen form miles away. Unfortunately, many times it is hidden by clouds, so you need to be lucky... To get near the mountain, take a bullet train (Shinkansen Kodama line) from Tokyo station to Shin-Fuji. From there you can take a bus, train or taxi closer to the mountain (for example, at Shiraito falls).

I started my Mt. Fuji trip at 6:45 am on August 19 from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal (New South Exit of Shinjuku Station) by bus directly to Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station (2305 meters above sea level). I arrived at 9:10 am and had a bowl of noodle soup at a upstair restaurant. After a brief tour of the nearby... More

We saw Mount Fuji briefly during our trip - it is very symmetrical! It is quite spectacular but we know that we were very lucky to see it as it is do often shrouded in clouds!

Took a one day tour to Mt Fuji with Sunrise Tours. Got up to the 5th station by bus and got to see Mt Fuji up close, the weather was really good and the view was really beautiful. Chose the no lunch option and had lunch at Gaspard et Lisa which is a themed restaurant specialising in curry rice. Large... More

If you didn't have any special feel of  the Mount Fuji, nor free of the lines in the Japanese car rental passenger, don't want to go to Mount Fuji is better, because the traffic is really inconvenient to Mount Fuji, but also very expensive, more important is to don't have any fun. When I go to Japan is around June, because... Mount Fuji was on top of my list to see whilst in Japan and despite the weather, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed everything about it! Travelling there on the bullet train, proceeding upwards to the cable car ( ropeway was closed!!) and taking in the enormity of this fabulous volcanic rock. It was amazing. However, make sure you purchase... More

I took a day Mount Fuji tour with Japanican. Tour starts 8am. Bus journey takes 2 hours to Mount Fuji 5th station. Sighting of Mount Fuji depends on weather condition on that day. On my first visit, it was raining and cloudy, so unable to see Mount Fuji, just shop at the 3 souvenir shops there. On this visit, I... More

Knowing how shy the grand lady is, we picked the most favourable weather day during our stay in Tokyo. We booked a day tour on a bus starting in bright sunshine from Shinjuku station and managed to arrive in sunshine at Lake Kawaguchi. Great photos of Fuji but the sun was sitting right beside the mountain. As we arrived at... More

The month of September, Fall is not a good for seeing Mount Fuji. She is covered by the cloud. So frustrating aside from rainy season.

You can't (shouldn't) leave Japan without visiting Mount Fuji. A mate & I did a bus day trip from Osaka and the whole trip was unrushed, relaxing and enjoyable. If you have time restraints or just prefer a relaxed itinerary to get there and back then an organised bus tour is the way to go. The cable car ride was... More
