From Nagoya Castle, I walked towards Shimemichi, where the old streetscape remains. Shortly after entering Shimemichi, I came across Endonji Shopping Street, which intersects with Shimemichi at a right angle and extends west. As I continued walking west along this shopping street, I came across Endonji Temple, from which the street takes its name. Thus, the town developed as a temple town for Endonji. Even today, this shopping street retains the atmosphere of Nagoya's downtown area.

This shopping street is said to have continued since the Edo period and is located in the Nagoya area, north of Sakuradori, on the east side of Nagoya Station. Like many other areas, it was in danger of becoming a deserted arcade, but it has endured as a hangout spot for artists and young people and maintains its lively atmosphere. However, it is probably not a place that many people visit at the beginning of the year. It was dark and deserted, in stark contrast to the bustle of Osu and other areas to which it is often compared.
