All that remain of this castle, once occupied by the powerful Maeda family, are the Ishikawa Gate, a moat and stone walls.

Very pretty from the outside and I bet it looks great with snow around it. I have been to heaps of these Japanese Castles and many are not so interesting inside as well as being reconstructions. At any rate the reconstruction has been beautifully done...More

It sits over the center of the city with its wall and white buildings visible. It is architecturally important as an example from Samurai times . The gate’s metal “hardware”, turret and its holes are especially impressive. Note: much of the castle and other buildings...More

Beautiful Castle! A lot of tourists and high school field trips! Didn't go into the castle but just taking pictures outside was beautiful enough. It is located right across from the Kenroku Garden

We came here today and really enjoyed the scenery. The castle has been re made 60 years ago to the original plans. The gardens were very peaceful and beautiful. The gardens are lovely. We took our two boys here and they enjoyed the day

Walked around the castle grounds, but the highlight are the manicured gardens around the back, definitely worth spending an hour or so in this peaceful garden
