The street provides a descent choice of snacks. In addition there are some ornament shops as well. It's walking distance from Matsumoto castle. During winter time most of the shops closed around 4-5pm. Don't miss the small shrine with frog statues.

Half the shops were closed when I visited, and there wasn't really anything special on sale. Only shop of interest was a toy/hobby store owned by a senior looking gentleman. Don't get high hopes here. Not even the historical factor could save this street

Lovely old fashioned town, very easy to navigate. Lots of periodic houses and interesting architecture. Very clean too. See the bridge & river that flows through.

On our way to Matsumoto Castle, we also passed by this small shopping street mainly with frogs souvenirs. There were several large frog statues at the entrance of the street and we took a few photos for memory and left this place.

Stone paved street with small shops and restaurants and river next to it, you will walk it in a few minutes but it deserves more time to browse and admire the timber building's plus not far from the castle

Sure, it’s another tourist trap, but it’s nice and quite interesting. Well worth visiting. The vendors are friendly and offer little schmonsers to remember the visit. In autumn the local temple gardens are amazing.

We wandered past here on our way back from the castle. The street looks promising, however the shops seem to sell frog paraphernalia and little else. You will likely walk past on your way back from the castle, so have a look, but not worth...More

We hit this place up on the way back to the station after seeing the castle. It's a charming little street with lots of shops and goodies. But hands down - the best part was this totally awesome statue built by students from the University...More
