    Lake Toya, a real gem
Beautiful place! Managed to be there when almost bare of tourists on a glorious sunny day. Took ferry to island and just had time for a short hike cos all walks must be finished by 3pm. Ferry ride past beautiful scenery was special, too.

    The Toya Restaurant
The Toya Restaurant is a conveniently located small restaurant right by the highway. Ordering is in multiple languages thus easy. I ate the Crab Sandwich which was good, albeit pricey at 3500 yen. The toilet is clean.

Stunningly beautiful views. Very serene, quiet, blissful experience. Must visit
Lake Toya is amazingly beautiful. Serene, quiet & blissful. Despite being Holiday week, there weren’t many visitors. Good place to stay overnight, there an option for camping too. Restaurant options are limited during dinner time as I guess most visitors make a day trip. Must do - take a ferry trip (return fare ¥1600 per adult) which run every 30mins. Give yourself a couple of hours on the island for hiking. There is a museum which one can also visit. It’s a 2 hour drive each way.

It was a sunny day and the view along the lake was spectacular! Mount Yotei in the distance formed a beautiful backdrop for photo-shooting. Food in the nearly sea front village was delicious was inexpensive. All of these has made it an unforgettable visit.

It is a beautiful lake, and there are objects around the lake that can be used as photo spots. Among them, the photo spot in the shape of a stamp frame can be used to take good photos. There were inbound people enjoying the sightseeing boat out, but I did not experience it.
There seems to be a Toyako Onsen, but the hot spring town is quiet with no shops to explore, so don't expect to find any shops.

The view of the vast lake is breathtaking. You can spend time leisurely while feeling the grandeur of nature. The stamp frame is one of the best photo spots, so it is sure to be a souvenir. There are many monuments along the lake, and you can enjoy art appreciation. There is also a pleasure boat.

we visited the observation deck during the thick of winter. just a quick stop to take some pics and luckily it was a sunny day, otherwise it would not have been not as pleasant. at times, there was just too many people (tour groups) but if you avoid the gift shop, all is good.

We made a day trip here by car after a stay at Noboribetsu and before heading to Sapporo. The drive was pleasant, lots of snow, so it is nice if you are from a country with no winter. Otherwise there is nothing there. Warmer weather may have been better. We stop at Aputan rest area to eat sea urchin. We also went to Wakasaimo honten shop - nothing very much to buy. The cheese cake was nice but it needed to be chilled to bring home as gift and you can get it in the airport.

We are so glad we chose Noboribetsu as our overnight stop over. It is a much better choice.

Breathtaking views and a pleasant drive around the lake. Plenty of places to stop along the way. I suggest stopping at Sobetsu-Cho for the waterfall and also visit the Windsor Hotel Resort. Cherry blossoms were in bloom as well.

I would have chosen another part of Hokkaido if I knew this. It's 90 degrees. Very scenic. Skip the south part full of tourists. North is quieter more scenic. I wish I had camped here.
