There was not much to do in Mito; but spending an afternoon around Lake Senba was lovely nonetheless. Watching the sun go down was just as exhilarating as always.

The park is about 15 km from the station. It seems far but it is not that far in actuality. While walking we came upon a cafe. This cafe was similar to a Coco’s restaurant, so we decided to eat lunch here and have a Japanese meal for dinner. The Semben lake was in the middle of the Park, so... More

I walk from my hotel in town around the lake and to the gardens. It was a beautiful walk and very enjoyable. I am sure it is incredible in the springtime in the trees are blooming. There's also a nice restaurant that I had lunch at the end of the lake.

Lake Senba is a beautiful small lake in Mito with many birds, goose, and swans ! There is a jugging path that circles the lake, which is nice to walk around. It's possible to take a swan boat on the lake. Before going to Kairakuen Park, please stroll around this lake !! Especially, I love this place in the Cherry... More

Beautiful part of Mito, has a jugging path that circles the lake, nice cafe and the birds, including black swans, are beautiful! At the top of the cafe there is a bell for couples to ring to wish for a happy love and a nice view of the lake. In the summer months it is possible to take a swan... More

We were treated to a fireworks display at night. Thousands of Japanese. Safe, clean, non threatening.amazingly..orderly and civilized. The lake swans, a treat. A must visit place.A Zen experience.

Stroll around the lake before entering Kairakuen was very cool, lots of ''wild'' animals (goose, swan, etc) and they will follow you (it is forbidden to feed them, but lots of people does feed them). On the Kairakuen side of the lake there is running line on the walkway, which is soft and pleasant for walking.
