Even Mt.Fuji didn't appear when i was there but another view also made me feel good. It was interesting when I was on the top of the valley.

We were disappointed that we weren't able to hike in this area. There was too much sulphur active and cloud cover the day we were there. It was very windy and a bit chilly. One minute you could see the hillside, the next you couldn't...More

We arrived via ropeway mid morning in July and Fuji-San was mostly visible. The clouds were building all morning and the mountain was almost entirely covered by noon. Owaku-dani was an exceptional experience. Smelly, for sure, since the sulfur smell was everywhere, but you ignore...More

When you get the hakone freepass, this is included too. Just queue and get on it. If you're lucky, you'll see fuji-san on the way to the valley. The black eggs taste pretty normal though. Try the ice cream too!

It was interesting we were on the top of the valley. The most important we must eat the eggs. They said it will give you more long life when you eat the egg. We also try the charcoal ice cream and wasabi ice cream.

If you have never seen volcanic sulfur springs before, it's worth the trip. But thanks to volcanic gasses, most of the area is closed. We wanted to hike, but you are limited to a narrow tourist area.

Claire, as of yesterday: NO, unfortunately (due to high gas concentration). I asked, and they've been closed for MONTHS, they told me What a pity!
