This was a good free museum to see while walking around Yokohama, but I don't think it's for everyone, as the focus on the capture of the North Korean spy ship makes it more for adults than for children. It's also a good place to see ships passing through Yokohama. I'd like to see some ventilation, or at least a... More

This museum is something you cannot miss if you are in Yokohama. Indeed, for Japanese the Coast Guard is something essential in order to protect the coast of Japan for North Korean "intrusions". Many Japanese just disappeared over the time because of North Korean spies. You can find an evidence of this problem; indeed, the vessel inside is a proof... More

Great little museum, not much but very interesting. A North Korean spy ship is exposed and the story of it is clearely explained in english, with full of artifacts. Little souvenir shop too.

This is a small museum run by Japan Coast Guard. Exhibits a Korean spy boat here. Need to have help from the staff who know English to understand the story behind the exhibit as there is no other documentation we could find there.

The Coast Guard museum is right on the edge of the Yokohama Bay close to the old warehouse area. One downfall in terms of getting to the museum is the lack of English signage at the area. I entered thinking this was the terminal of the sea bus ;) But a great place to visit which houses a piece of... More

The highlight of this museum is the North Korean spy vessel salvaged by Japanese Coast Guard after the spies blew up the vessel when cornered by the Japanese. The staff was very kind to provide us with an English presentation, as most of the description are in Japanese. The admission is free.

It is difficult to spot in the Yokohama harbour. It sits on one of the piers but there is no English sign on the building explaining what is inside. But when you come in it is a fascinating story of a North-Korean spy-vessels disguised as a fishingvessel, hiding a high-speed vessel inside. The vessel was spotted by the Japanese coast... More

This is a one-room museum that I found through my usual habit of discovery by walking around. My slow reading of Japanese at the first display prompted a guide to take me through the exhibit. Limited English, yes, but unlimited enthusiasm. A Russian lady and her Russian/Japanese son joined us. While our guide shared extra details with the boy, his... More

Was lucky to have one of the staff with us all along providing interesting commentary and willing to expand in the discussion. At this pace took about an hour. Reminded me of visiting the U-boat at the Industry Museum in Chicago although in this case the spy boat's condition doesn't allow a walk-though. Another difference is that the two nations... More
