While I don't regret going to Kita-In, it is certainly not in the category of "must see". My favorite thing about visiting shrines in Japan is the beauty of the nature surrounding them. We went on a beautiful spring day, and certainly there many blooming...More

Though not the main shrine in the city, but it seemed to be a long and important history tied to it. When i went there, none of the food stalls in front of it were open, nor the sakura bloomed, so it was not at...More

One of the ancient Buddhist temples in Japan located in Kawagoe. I visited the temple on the New years eve with large festivities, gathering and lots of Daruma Dolls on display. Access: Walking distance of 15 minutes From the Hon-Kawagoe station, Seibu-Shinjuku Line. The temple...More

The temple was my favourite place I visited in Kawagoe. It is easy to get to from the bus from the train station (a day pass on the loop bus is only 300Y) and is the first stop on the loop. I spent about an...More

Had a good time checking out this temple. The section where the statues of various arhats are sectioned off is particularly interesting. Kind of a neat place to see if you are in the Kawagoe area. A really authentic place where locals still use regularly...More
