This small museum is best reached by train as it is only a five minute walk from the nearest station. Admission is low but you absolutely get a huge return in terms of quality. There are a combination of indoor/outdoor exhibits so plan to go on a clear day. The venue was crowded on the weekend so perhaps a week... More

I stopped at the Omiya Bonsai Museum as a side trip on my way to Kawagoe. The museum itself is small but very educational. The garden outside is currently under construction for the upcoming world Bonsai competition, but you are still able to see many beautiful specimens. It is amazing to think that some of these living sculptures are hundreds... More

An easy one blue train ride from central Tokyo. A beautiful museum dedicated to Bonsai. They are displayed like fine art and deservedly so. Go on a sunny day and explore some of the various growers around the Bonsai Village. Wish I could have bought a few and taken home. The worst ones available here are better then the best... More

This gorgeous little place is a five minute walk from the east exit of Toro station, which is just over half an hour from Tokyo on the train. The staff at the front desk speak little English and provided us with a guide written in English. There are a number of exhibits inside as well as a garden and pond... More

This is a beautiful place. If you are a tourist, you have to find how to get there. You can use either JR lines or Noda line. Then you have to walk.I was not sure if there was any English speaker. But most of the description of bonsai were written in both English and Japanese. It was a great place to learn bonsai.

The Museum provides an overview of how Bonsai is cultivated along with a number of Bonsai plants. The interior of the Museum has history and technical notes while the garden has the plants themselves, some quite large and quite old.

Bonsai heaven. The museum is located near to a railway station in a beautiful Tokyo suburb, and is surrounded by numerous other (free) bonsai gardens. The museum is well presented, if not quite busy and lacking as much information as I'd like. Take a couple of hours out from your day and immerse yourself in Omiya's bonsai gardens.

The bonsai museum opened in 2010 and contains an impressive collection of plants, displayed both indoors and outside in the gardens. The staff are very welcoming and speak English. Signage and descriptions are also in English, so you really gain a nice introduction to bonsai plants, structures and techniques. The museum is about a 15 minute walk from Omiya-koen station....
