I was on a tour bus on my way to see the sites of Lake Chūzenji but oh my goodness I was not expecting these kinds of mountainous roads to get me there. I'm from Texas, so to be honest, I was extremely nervous of...More

The only road to Chuzenji Lake from Nikko. It was my first time getting through here, seeing the bus driver navigate through every turns is so much fun. The road has an amazing view of Irohazaka.

This road is a great experience even if you don't drive yourself but are sitting on a tour bus. Add some snow and a bit of ice and it makes it even more exciting. Beautiful, too, with the snow on the mountains. We saw some...More

Long drive out of Tokyo (3 hours from memory), however this was WELL worth it. I hired a Nissan GTR-R24 Skyline, and loved every moment of the drive, even highway driving to Iroha-zaka. But once at the Iroha-zaka route, I was in driving heaven! It...More

The walk was very beautiful withy a view on the waterfalls and the river flowing next to you for almost one kilometre. The walk is full of little shrines.

This is a one-way route from Lake Chuzenji to Nikko. Enjoy the magnificent vistas. Best driven in the Autumn with the fall foliage. It was nice to have a driver to enjoy the experience.

A beautiful landscape all thru the trip, with lakes, mountains, snow in winter and flowers in spring. Some little shops in the middle to stop for a quick snack. A great rout to walk, too at least partially.

A must for photographers. The landscapes are from another world. The nature full of different colors depending the season. It's an incredible ride up and down with some thrill but full of fun!

This is the winding road that connects lower Nikko with the higher elevations of the mountainous areas. We were there in late Autumn, some stunning scenery. Apparently the name comes from the fact there are 48 hairpin turns. There are separate roads for ascending and...More

We rented a car from Tobu Nikko station and drove along this winding route enroute to Chuzenji Lake where we stayed for the night. The route up to Chenzenji is one way and down from a different path. Can understand why bikers love this road...More
