We caught the train from Osaka to Nara, it’s an easy experience and around 40 minutes travel time. Walk out the main entrance at Nara and follow the hill up and you’ll soon find the deer! A package of deer rice cakes cost about 100Y....More

Blissful for us Westerners. The park is great with all the shrines and temples and the peacefulness you get there. The deer bow to you so that is pretty f*ing awesome. Come see Japan - go to Nara.

Nara park is really a place being worth of visiting. One can easily spend several hours there, half a day is good recommendation. There are about 1200 almost tame deers, which live in the park. The deers themselves are worth of seeing plus of course...More

Deer will mall you and nip at your butt to get your attention, to give them cakes/snacks. The deer are intelligent and will bow for you to get a treat. Loads of fun.

Our private tour guide, who lives in Nara, told us the best activity in the entire city would be a tour of Nara Park. Impressive ancient temples and lantern-lined pathways made for a charming walk within this massive sanctuary. But the most incredible part of...More

An amazing place to LITERALLY be one with nature. The deer here in Nara Park are very similar to the seals in California; being so accustomed to human beings that they view us as just another part of their daily environment. If you're lucky and...More

There is a special bus that conducts you from the bullet train station directly to Nara park entry. However even within the park it's a fair amount of walking. To see the Buddha temple too it's a walk, although the deer are... More

It never closes (open 24/7) as there are no gates holding deers in or out however shops, other buildings and temple surrounding or in the park may close anywhere between 4.30pm to 6pm depending on what it is
