I went there on a Sunday afternoon in late November. Note that the 10 minute ferry ride to the island leaves Meinohama ferry terminal every 15 minutes past the hour, i.e. 2.15 pm, 3.15 pm etc, so time your transport to the terminal to catch the ferry on time, otherwise there's not much to do at the terminal while waiting... Had a really enjoyable half day on the Island. Although the cosmos were not in full bloom early October when we went, they were still pretty. Park was quiet and peaceful - lovely! As we had a wheelchair-using elderly in my group we went there by taxi on the ferry and at the urging of the staff there, rented a... More

Nokonoshima Island Park is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. The different flower collections are spectacular - I went in October when the cosmos were blooming with the bay in the background, and it was one of the loveliest sites I've ever seen. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery, there are several restaurants (the udon one... More

At the time we visited the garden it still looked good but nowhere near as nice as they appear in some other photos. Getting there we took 301 bus from the stop opposite of Tenjin station (the north gate), you can also take 302 as well, took about half an hour to get to Meinohama ferry port. Ferry to the... More

We had a nice day on Nokonoshima, during which we rented bikes and saw large parts of the island. They sold fresh fruit and produce at a small market where you can also rent bikes for a reasonable price. The island park on the north part of the island looked like a good place for families with a lot of... More

Take either the bus nishitetsu from hakata station or take the subway to meinohama and take the bus from there. From hakata apparently according to the information centre the bus runs on a a schedule that makes you miss the ferry by 5min... So we took the subway and we're lucky. Bus stops right in front of the ferry terminal... More

We visited the park on Nokonoshima Island and found it a perfect family getaway. There are activities for children such as petting zoos, playgrounds, and the park "village" also has cafés, reataurants, souvenirs and two ceramics stores where you can try creating pottery or painting it. The flower beds are also very lovely. There is a ten minute ferry leaving... More
