This is one of the two Natural Sand Bath in Ibusuki. this was my second experience in Sand Bath and felt very comfortable twice in a roll. You have to come and go here of course but if you stay at Ibusuki Kyukamura like I did the last time ,they have their own sand bath(not natural but boiled one) so... More

My only regret is that I arrived back in Ibusuki very late after a full day in Chiran at an inconvenient time, just before dinner time. So I did the sand bath part of this experience right, but I did not spend all the post-sand bath "recovery" time that I might have, rushing through after washing off the sand, rather... More

This may be one of the major reasons that why we choose to come Ibusuki, there are only a very few places that sand bath is available in the world and this is one of those. It's so relaxing and nice as well when it's in hot summer. Do remember to bring two towels with you, one for taking the... More

Please note that some of their staff have been punished for the negligence of their duties. I read that on the newspaper as of August 1, 2016. It was the very day when we planned to visit Saraku. So I didn't visit Saraku but I wrote this for your information. Actually we visited Sayuri, another spa, instead. And Sayuri is... More

I used my JR Pass and travelled down from Kagoshima just to buried in hot sand - and I loved it. I admit I was a little scared to begin with, but I relaxed into it and it was great. Nice bath afterwards

We went to this place on the recommendation of Lonely Planet and had a great time. You get buried in hot sand and it's supposed to have health benefits (including increased circulation). Very slick run operation and enjoyable experience. Things to note/tips: It's located on the shores (well sign posted) and there is a car park opposite which is up... More

Unique experience being buried in hot sand on the waterfront. The whole operation is very efficient with free lockers, a yukata (gown) and towels (at a small cost) provided in the main building. You then go down to the beach to be buried. The sand was warm but not too hot when we were there. The weight of the sand... More

Well this is the most famous/ popular activity of Ibusuki so we went for it just before dinner! We totally believed that it was good for our blood circulation and it was. The place was packed when we arrived. Very orderly which is not surprising due to Japanese culture. When we got int the hot sand, it was hot but... More

Ibusuki, is not only to be enjoyed as a destination, but throughout the journey from Kagoshima. The coastal drive was breathtakingly beautiful, with Mt Sakurajima in the backdrop most of the time. There were numerous viewpoints along the stretch, some with cafes & hawkers selling piping hot sweet potatoes & yam. We tried the hot sand bath at the Saraku... More
