This is the Kagoshima equivalent of the view in Naples from S.Elmo or Posillipo. Best place for a picture of the city with the Sakurajima in the background

Yunohira Lookout is the closest you can get to Sakurajima itself. If you take the sightseeing bus, you will stop at the lookout for about 15 mins which is just enough time for taking photos etc. When we went, we had a lovely bus driver...More

The bus stops there long enough to take a few pictures but, wheather allowing, il can be worth staying longer to enjoy the place and walk back down to the harbour or waith for the next bus.

The bus will stop here for 15-20 mins, so everyone could go up to the observatory and have look at Sakurajima and Kagoshima city on another side. It'd be more beautiful if I went there on a clear sky day, anyway, it's still fantastic.

This place offers a top of the world experience. You need to pray for good wind direction so that the ashes from the volcano is not blowing towards you! Else you will be shrouded with ashes and no view!

You can see the mountain and Kagoshima city. Good view, but the lookout is not a must, because it is just another view point. So I recommend that you take a walk at the seaside near the visitor center and see the view, if you...More
