A lovely little visitor centre with lots of easily accessible information for tourists. Many of the information boards were in English as well as Japanese and there is a video with English subtitles that is a must see. Around the centre there is information on how volcanoes form, the history of Sakurajima and how the locals currently live with an... More

The centre itself is full of useful information and the video they show is worth viewing. Make sure you go out the back where some paths lead you around the pleasant sea views and best of the volcanic water foot bath. We stripped off our shoes an enjoyed an invigorating bath whilst taking in the views. Something not to be... More

This is not only a tourist center, you can also buy different kinds of souvenirs, such as, food, post card, drinks, toys and key rings. Tourists can learn how the volcano forms, the history of the volcano, and the effects of the volcano to the local residents. This is a good place for tourists!

Sakurajima Visitor Center is an information center about Sakurajia. There are interesting displays about the eruptions of volcano in the past. There is also a projection of video. It is free. So, you can visit it before your tour to Sakurajima.

Worth the visit for the information it provides but what made it even more interesting is the nice footpath close by leading to the coastline. Beautiful walk and nice views on Kagoshima.

The premises provide comprehensive, educational materials about the volcano, its history and various information. It was a nice drop by because it's right next to a beautiful promenade with free foot bath. Spend less than an hour here for the center plus the foot bath. It's really relaxing, and free!!!

The staff was very helpful - when we arrived, a movie was about to start, so they let us know this and made sure the English subtitles were turned on. The rest of the center is a basic overview of volcanoes and the Sakurajima volcanoes.

Rather than a center to promote tourism, it is more of a souvenir shop. However it is a good idea to drop by 10 minutes, as they sell many small lovely things with the Sakurajima marks, and post cards made from wood.

Interesting! I didn't know about a volcano,it was so good for me and may be both children and adult. It is not big at all but the staff was kind and you can understand so many things.

Visual graphics on past explosion of Sakurajima was well presented there. Real-time condition of volcano was shown Live on TV. Small granite stones were sold as souvenir. Coffee and tea were served by counter staff at about 300yen. There was a small theater for viewing the video of Sakurajima upon request (most probably narrated in Japanese only). 10 mins walk...
