Go here for those times that you just want something to do or if you feel eating under a tree, or overlooking the ruins. That's it. There's nothing much here except for tastefully landscaped area and cherry blossom trees. Other than that, nothing.

The ruins of Oita Castle are concentrated in a small pleasant park. Here it is not much left from Oita Castle. Apart from the exterior walls and the moat is not left. But that does not affect the scenic beauty of the location of the ruins in the town center Oita. Some small Shinto and Buddhist temples contribute to the... More

This place looks more like an incomplete ruin than a castle. I visited it because it is very close to my hotel and still regretted it.

The castle ruins are small and quirky. As stated below, the moat is impressive. Modern buildings surround the castle, so it does not make pretty photos, with the exception of cherry blossom season. Don`t go out of your way to visit, there are many other beautiful sights in the area!

I've been to over 110 Japanese castles and castle ruins. Funai Castle Ruins in Oita City has extensive castle ruins with a great moat. It's a really beautiful sight where you can relax. When I visited they were doing construction works on one part. I think they were tearing down an old house that had nothing to do with the... More

Very disappointed to see it: it was just a park and I did not realise that I already finished seeing all until I asked people around me where the ruin was located.
