I went for a walk before dawn on a weekday, and among the chirping of the birds, I saw a combination of plants, flowers, and trees that you don't see in Tokyo parks. It's a great place to spend some quiet time. There is also a monument to karate master Miyagi Chojun, and a statue of the Shiraume student corps who died in the Battle of Okinawa.
There are only a few benches, and they are dirty, so you can't sit and relax.

This park was pretty easy to find. It was in a district near the high school and you can hear the choir and the kids playing basketball in the high school gym. The park isn't that clean though. Found some amazing butterflies that were really large and the preschool brought the kids to this park to play. Found a person sleeping in a worn out gazebo. The other day we visited we saw some baseball players running there and a park worker cleaning up, so hopefully they will make this park nice like it used to be. Very old walking tree there that is a pretty amazing site.

Matsuyama park has a lot of open space. It is really great for a causal walk. You can find many people riding their bicycles pass the park. From here you can also have a good look at the Matsuyama Castle.

I got off the Yui Rail in front of the prefectural office and headed down the wide road to Naminoue Shrine on the northwest side. About 300 meters from Kencho-mae Station, Matsuyama Park is on the right.
In front of the park is Naha Commercial High School, and the day we visited was the day of the graduation ceremony. I later learned that this park was home to the Prefectural Second Girls' High School during the war. The park had playground equipment, a playing field, a tennis court, and lush tropical trees.
