Dinner at Hirome Market is a great experience. It's a crowded, smoky, noisy, busy place and a feast for the senses. There are lots of mini-restaurants cooking and selling all manner of wonderful enticing foods, gaudy signs, spruikers, people coming and going to choose their...More

Although a port town, this place has pretty decent gyoza and fried chicken. Just look for the ones with the longer queues. Most places would have their own take on the tuna tataki. By virtue of being a seaside port town and it being summer...More

Enjoy drinking by purchasing drink and food from booths. Friendly air, you may visit by yourself and mix with the locals. Evening is the most popular but you can find some booths open in the morning and lunchtime.

This was a cruise ship port day which meant that no matter what time we appeared, this market/food hall was bound to be busy. We noticed a number of the cruise ship staff having lunch here as well. The regional specialty is the charred tuna...More

It is on one end of the Obiyamachi shopping arcade and a short walk from the train station. It seems to specialize in seafood dishes. A lot of food stalls clustered in mini-courts with tables in the middle area. It gets really crowded. Interesting, exciting,...More

Jump in that would be our advice. Without Japanese you need to be brave as it’s not always obvious what each stall sells. Tables are in demand so be prepared to wait and pounce, in a polite Japanese fashion, when you see a space. The...More

Need a place to take in local culture, food, fun, and enough shops to buy local and souvenirs, this is the place. Friendly stalls, in a compact environment. After shopping have eats, from Kochi favorites, to other international foods.
