The family visited this site enroute from Sendai to Aomori. There are parking lots available right below the park.
The castle building is no longer there but there are remnants of its past like the stone walls and such. It’s interesting to have a slow stroll around the park, especially now that we are nearing the winter season. Some nice pictures can be taken around the castle ruin as well like there is a small bridge right at the centre. From one corner, I could actually see mount awate from a distance.

To visit this park, you need to time your visit very carefully.
The best time is the end of October or early November when you can see lots of rea autumn leaves.
To early or too late is no good for this park.

Situated about 15 minutes by walking from the JR Morioka Station, this place is beautiful during cherry blossom. Restaurants are nearby and the place is full of locals having picnic. There is an area for food vendor.

This park was absolutely stunning. I think we spent about 2 hours walking around but I could have spent much longer if we hadn't had a train to catch. The grounds were beautiful, the rose garden was gorgeous, and the paths by the creek were so tranquil I just wanted to stay there and relax and watch the koi fish all day.

We went to Morioka on 19 Oct , took the denden bus (counterclock) to Morioka Castle and found that the light was not perfect for picture taking . So we went back to the station took another bus to Takamatsu Pond which was an easily short walking from the bus stop . Coming back to Morioka Castle at around 3pm ,it's the right time. There was not much of the ruined castle to see but the magnificent autumn colors with soft touch of light impressed us. And even though there was no english explanations at the ruined site we didn't find it a problems. We 're there until it's getting dark.

We walked here from our hotel near the train station in the early evening and were rewarded with great views of the city. The park was almost completely deserted at this time of day. The gardens themselves are basic but the park is large and green for people needed a nature fix.

There's not too much to see of the catle ruins but the park is worth a visit. You can check out the ruins while talking a stroll.

I last visited the place in April for the sakura blossom. It was then beautiful. I now come back in November to see the autumn leaves. It is even better. Seen as a castle or ruins, there is not much to see. But, by now, all the trees, and there are many of them, have changed their colours - an abundance of red, orange and golden yellow. Together or individually, they make up an stunningly beautiful scene against the blue sky. If you are in the area in autumn, do not miss it.

A lovely place to walk and reflect. There are beautiful trees and benches and bridges to walk over or sit and relax. Lovely views of some parts of the city
