Hi, I went to this place with a group of 30 pax including a baby boy aged 1 yr 10 months.

Most of us are from Kuala Lumpur and it took about 5 hours drive to Royal Belum.

If you are lucky :) you may bump into elephant(s) in Grik area. But we were not lucky enough.

The road to reach the Banding Jetty is steep so please drive carefully.

A bit info about this amazing forest, Belum - Temenggor is believed to have been in existence for over 130 million years! Making it one of the oldest rainforest in the world and even older than Amazon and Congo.

Those who love nature would fall in love with this place 😍 Ohh before that, it requires a permit to enter Royal Belum.

We stayed in the boat house throughout our stays there in the middle of the lake. We have done many activities such as swimming in the lake, fishing, jungle trekking where you can many species of flora and fauna, waterfalls and etc.

We also visited the aboriginal people (orang asli) there.

Here enjoy the photos!

We had a marvellous time with the Casuarina @ Meru team on the Casuarina 1 Boathouse. The team was led by Faizal & Chef Kannan. Chef fed us well & Faizal & his team made sure that we were comfortable throughout the journey. The trekking was great! The 2 waterfalls were fabulous . There was no communication available & we were totally cutoff fr the outside world which was great! The kids had a fabulous time & it was also a time of bonding with their cousins- not glued to their phones as usual. All in all, it was a great trip & I would recommend it very much. Just be sure to make reservations direct with the hotel- Hotel Casuarina @ Meru. If you go through agent, the matk up is quite substantial. You might just get lucky & get Faizal & his team!

Belum is a national park that is located about 2 hours drive from Ipoh. It is less commercialized in relative to others in the country. The whole rain forest is scattered with man-made islands resulted from the construction of the Temenggor hydroelectric dam decades ago. The lake is deep-emerald-coloured and the dept could reach hundreds of feet. Boat can be hired for private cruise. Some lodgings and hotels in the area provide such service too. If you are lucky, you may see some tiger swimming from an island to another. Here is also the home to other exotic animals such as tapir, rhinoceros, elephant etc although sighting is rare

The scenery in this area is beautiful. I would be happy just spending the day in a boat. The resort is more than just a collection of chalets and restaurant, it is an experience. The owner and staff are very friendly. The hikes in the forest are challenging enough to make you tired. Fishing and canoeing are great fun.

Food was excellent.bring your own beer if you want to and put it in the fridge.

Stay two nights and enjoy.

I went there for our office retreat plus meeting. It was not my first time there however it was my first experience staying overnight on a Casuarina owned houseboat. The experience is totally different from just going there and exploring the jungle during day time to see the rafflesia flower blooming and visiting it refreshing and clear waterfall. To me experiencing the night time in Belum well I truly have no one word to describe it. There is no telephone reception so it was really quite and peaceful with only the sound of water and animals in the jungle and if you are lucky enough you get to see wildlife in its natural habitat. It really is a good getaway to leave the bustle of modern environment and breath in fresh untainted air as well as for us obviously to get work done without any interruption.

I joined a group of 46 people and fented 2 bot houses for 3 days and 2 nights cruising the Temenggor Lake and hiking along the way. It was a new and amazing experience, the houseboat is very basic, but comfortable enough, there is a toilet, kitchen and rooms, the night was really cool so we dont have to worry about having no air conditioning, most of us brought pillows to make our sleep comfortable. The forst day was spent visiting orangbasli villages, its bery interesting to observebtheir simple life. On the first night we had a fantastic barbeque.mthe second day we went biking to see anumal footprints, the hike itself is an experience as the ancient rainforest makes you feel small and puny. Later we cruised to Sg ruok where we hiked for 30 mi jtes to reach a waterfall and pond in the rainforest where we swim. The pond is also a bredding ground for a carp type fish called Kelah that is prozed by anglers. A fantastic and refreshing dip in the clean mountain waters. The second night we spent in the boat as it rained and our night walk was cancelled, nontheless, we kept purselves busy by holding games, singing karaoke and play cards till late. The last day was spent visiting a rafflesia site, unfortunately the flowers were at the early stages and we only founds buds, we replaced this by having a last swim in the lake before departing for the jetty. Nontheless, staying and sleeping on the houseboat was a new profound expereince on itself. We were basically camping in the middle of the Temenggor Lake. We swam inthe lake ,in a pond in tye middle sof the raninforest and went hiking to experience the majesty of the ancient rainforest.

To those heading for Temenggor I stronlgly recommend going in a large group of at least 10 people and rent a houseboat at least 2 nights and experience what we did. Its not just for the sake of staying on a boat but the spiriti of camraderies developed during the journey and the calmness of having tye Belum rainforests majesty blossom in fromt if you as the clumsy houseboats inches forward

I stopped by this lake for one night. I was heading to Penang from Kota bharu and it was perfect day-off from heat and walking.

It was very nice, and 5degree cooler than Kota Bharu. I enjoyed taking a nap on hammock. Very beautiful and peaceful place. I was exhausted but I recovered well after I visited here.

To getting there was easy.
I took bus from Kota Bharu that heading to Sungai Petani and asked the driver to drop me off at Royal Belum where public jetty.
But getting out was not easy. I was very lucky that lovely couple who were leaving same day, they dropped me at Grik. But bus going to Penang was full for that day, I had to go to Baling but bus was 2 hours away, so I took taxi. I was able to take bus from there to Butterworth.

Belum Royal State Park is worth a visit if you llke hiking, fishing, camping. Beautiful scenery especially the calm waters of the lake. Land activities like hiking looking for the rare raffflesia flowers and other insects etc. You can enjoy water activities like bamboo rafting, canoeing, swimming and boating. Weather is hot and humid. Pack lots of t- shirts , shorts and sunblock. Have to plan ahead as permit(two weeks in advance) is needed to enter forest.

Where in the earth that you can reach the 1500 years old of virgin, untouch and excited rainforest with 4 hours riding from Main City Of Kuala Lumpur ?

The Belum rainforest is the most recommended to all.. Study the nature with or without your family.. Visiting the village of Orang Asli.. Waterfall, Lake view and most amazing Raflesia..
