Visiting this cemetery was so interesting and reading the inscriptions on the legible tombs of lives that had been lost through illness and disease and tragedy by early travellers making the town what it is today. Inspiring.

Sadly neglected and overgrown with some really mean mosquitoes but interesting to see the headstones which tell an interesting story.

Puts the history of Penang into perspective. Free, accessible, safe and worth the time reading about the pioneers.

This old cemetry is one of the oldest in Penang and worth a visit. Walk around the old gravestones or on the beautiful paths covered with trees.

It is quite a moving experience to visit the graveyard. The inscriptions tell an amazing and often sad story.

Awesome cemetery that offered a bit of colonial history from the early 19thC. The husband of Anna and the King is buried in this cemetery (The King And I) as well as other notable figures. Very atmospheric with lots of tombs literally placed ontop of each other. A good place for a bit of history.

This is such a lovely spot to visit, given the difference from the vibrance of Georgetown. You see the resting place of Francis Light and so many other of the early settlers, sadly many did not get to live long lives. But that is as it was. Truly reflective to stand there, look at the tombstones, and perhaps even think... More

The cemetery is along a busy road, but is well shaded and provides a glimpse into Penang's past. There is a map in the cemetery that show where notable figures are laid to rest. Read the tombstones and see how long (or not so long) most people lived and where they are from. This is the melting pot that is... More

Quiet and shady, the mix of gravestones and monuments give a glimpse into the amazing history of Penang. Dutch, English and Chinese side by side
