Lovely, relaxing space perfect for a break from the midday sun. Interesting selection of books and art objects by local artists. Certainly much more to offer than I had expected when I randomly wandered in.

A good place to get out of the sun in George Town. They offer a good selection of guide books, books on Penang history along with a cup of coffee. The typewriter inviting you to type out your own Penang story is a cool touch....More

Loved the selection of books on local culture and heritage. And also great that it’s location at the Star Building is opened everyday. Located on the ground floor of the refurbished building, it’s very conducive to browsing with old wooden racks of books and ceiling...More

I am a sucker for postcards! The best thing about the postcards are the lovely architectures of Penang, Malaysia in watercolour. I enjoyed browsing through the store but it was quite dusty when I flipped through certain things. Could have bought more things if time...More

Areca Books has a lovely space filled with interesting books about Penang and Malaysia by both local and international writers. A must visit when visiting the island as the building and the books really capture the essence of Penang.More
