This centre is not a zoo and it pains me when reviewers call it that. It is clear they do not understand the work being done here. It is a centre for animals that are rescued, confiscated or sent here, most are older, sick or...More

It was nice. But its not very spectacular. The animals are in cages. And there are not few animals to see. The tour took us only 45min. In the journey prospect stood, you should plan 3h for the tour. Maybe they counted the taxi way...More

Sad to see these creatures caged but as they are there for rehabilitation I guess that's ok, but as some of the orangutans are not being released it would have been better if the were housed in a more natural environment

We had a nice day visiting Matang where they rehabilitate orangutans. However we were not happy with the size of the cages for some of the other animals and felt quite sad after we had left. However the enclosures that the orangutans get to spend...More

We didn't find out until half way round the trail that the section through the oranguatans and sun bear enclosures was closed so we weren't able to see these. The centre is a rehabilitation centre for wildlife rescued, surrendered or injured, although it is difficult...More

o Started with awareness for the Orang Utan, very noble. o Worth a visit if you are interested in Orang Utan. - RM10 entrance fee for an adult. x The place needs better maintenance. x Signage was not sufficient nor helpful. x Far from town....More

The reality is Borneo is facing a biodiversity crisis. Logging, oil palm and illegal and legal hunting have left much of the landscape with no wildlife. Places like Matang exist to provide on many cases the final home of displaced or ceased wildlife. It is...More

While the place is supposed to be a rehab for injured or neglected animals, we did not see any training or rehab going on. The guide said it could be because it was raining. I was quite sad to see a couple of orangutans in...More

Matang is a small wildlife centre. Certainly not a destination to spend more than a few hours at. There is no restaurant or cafetaria. We went as a day trip and spent about 3 hours there.
