After frantic Marrakesh medina and souk, Essaouira is much more manageable, and no motorbikes, only pedalbikes! More extensive than appeared on first sight, with fruit and veg and jewellery areas, as well as usual clothing/footware/pottery areas. Easy to find your way around. Loved the fact...More

We had a fantastic time in the Medina and we're pleasantly surprised by the lack of hassle and friendliness of everyone. It's intriguing to wonder through the maze of streets and experience the unique sights and sounds.

The Medical n'a is made of few narrow streets with typical oriental colours and smells. Sadly they are the typical pushy vendors as well. Essaouira remains untouched with a lovely port.

Thjis was an easy to shop medina and we had great luck especially at the woodworking shop. The wood items were fabulous and the furniture amazing. This was a colorful place to bargain and people watch. Much more manageable than some of the larger souks.

Medinas in Morocco can be a bit stressful and busy. If you want to have the full experience of a Medina without all that, have a walk in Essaouira Medina... it's beautiful.

There are a few fresh fish restaurants next to the port. You choose the fish you want, they weigh it for you and grill the fish. Bear in mind this is an African sea port so you won't get five star along the port. In...More

It's about 2 hours from Marrakesh, costs about 1000 Dhs for private car. Ours was easily arranged by our Dar (small hotel).
