One of my favorite places in Morocco. Essaouira is busy and relaxing at the same time. You can spend whole day just walking inside the old city, enjoying mint tea, shopping for argan oil and visiting galleries. Don't miss the harbor in the evenings when fishermen return from the sea.

While it may not be imperative to have a guide, ours provided an interesting history of the area. Clean and well worth the visit.

Hardly any hassle, quiestions or angry morrocan when you say 'no'. It was so nice to come here after Marrakech, but certainly Nice anytime.

We booked a day bus trip out of Marrakech to visit Essaouira and very glad we did. The sea air (away from the fishing boats!) and the fortifications are great to experience. The sellers are perhaps less pushy than in Marrakech, and window shopping was great. The artistic and creative vibe of the place was particularly appealing for me and... More

It is two and a half to three hours from Marrakech. There is a certain charm to the view from the Skala du Port and if you were a Game of Thrones fan, the Skala de la Ville is a must. Other than that there is very little. It is pleasant walking by the ramparts and there are one or... More

An easy, relaxed city. Nice weather, nice people. Essaouira / Suvayr must be included in Moroccan travel itinerary

After reading a few negative reviews i was 50/50 about going here but i am glad i did. The best time is really early in the morning just after sunrise. All the action of the fisherman can be seen then. I was there just after a small rain down pour and the rainbow over all those blue boats was superb.... More

Essaouira Medina is one of the few remaining totally walled Medinas in Morocco, It is steeped in history, should you want to research that. Within its walls you will find everything you could imagine. Bustling walkways and alleys full of Moroccan trinkets, silver; handmade stoneware; art; lamps; carpets and on the list goes. That is for the tourist, but if... More
