At our time of visit (December 2020) the Swakopmund Jetty was partially open to foot traffic, but no fishing allowed. The restaurants located on the jetty is closed. Cormorants have taken over the outdoor seating area and created some mess. The jetty surface is uneven in places and presents a potential tripping hazard.
Regardless, the jetty presents a wonderfully scenic view of the town and desert in the background and photographic opportunity, especially at dusk.

Beautiful food experience,my kids and spouse were spoiled for choice.Reception was good and i go an warm and the staff was friendly and helpful and attentive. We got the best service ever there in Namibia. Ambiance was also beautiful as we saw the sunset while enjoying our sumptuous sea food platter while the kids enjoyed chicken strips and fries.

Fish restaurant of low quality. You can order oysters but 3 pieces, come on others places you get more. The dish with mussels is just some few mussels with a lot of crème “soup” and small pieces of bread. The restaurant is surviving because of the location close to the sea, definitely not for good food or quantity.

This is a restaurant with an amazing location at the end of a jetty with the Atlantic crashing under your feet. Book early and ask for a window seat to really get the best views. The fish we ate was really well cooked, service was a bit slow but friendly and better that better that than be hurried over your dinner. The wine list was also good. My reasons for saying low points was the sheer size of the portions. Large amounts of rice AND chips with the fish just makes the plate , for me,daunting and unattractive.I hate sending food back uneaten but I really could not eat it all. A choice of one or the other and some salad garnish would be more to my taste. So i do recommend this restaurant but order wisely to really get the best experience.

How wonderful it is to walk along the pier after the heat of an excursion day, admire the sunset, look at the raging Atlantic Ocean, inhaling the freshness of the sea. Our hotel was located next to the pier, and we spent every evening of our stay in Swakopmund here. The pier is a 245-meter-long wooden structure extending into the Atlantic Ocean, offering stunning views of the sea and the city.

Restaurant directly on Jetty (Jetty 1905) closed until further notice. This could be an outcome due to COVID. However, at the beginning of the Jetty there is a little Italian Café to pick up an ice cream. Lunch and dinner is served @ THE TUG in front if the jetty itself.
It is amazing, to strive along the beach close to the jetty during sunset. Be aware: especially white community taken their dogs out along the beach(es) (especially, Vineta and Vogelstrand area) to let them do their 'business' everywhere. The ugly back-side of the beaches in Swakopmund...

It's free to take a stroll along the Jetty. The waves crashing dramatically underneath is fun to watch, as are the water birds sunning themselves with open wings. Sunset from this spot is stunning.
I also had a bite to eat at the Jetty restaurant at the end. I liked the vegan curry dish they offered. It's difficult to find decent vegan food in Namibia.

The place to visit when in Swakopmund: a different view and smell after all the sand and desert encountered before. And a nice breeze … and for free! Enjoy the cormorans at the end and in the evening a dinner at one of the restaurants, both are excellent (see separate reviews).

The jetty is very popular amongst locals and tourists alike. Go there to watch the sunset and enjoy your sundowner.

From the Jetty you can walk deep into the ocean being able to view whales, fish and birds. There are restaurants at the Jetty and relaxing spots to sit and soak in the scenery.

will be in Swakipmund for a few hours what is there to do of interest
Written January 27, 2016
Only a few hours...
... in this case I would suggest to book a short desert trip with Chris ("the little five"), and a dinner in the Jetty restaurant, combined with a short walk on the beach.
Please remember that Swakopmund is worth to be there at least for 3 to 5 days.
Enjoy!
