In North America we would call this a pier, along the lines of what you would find in Santa Monica. At any rate, it is free to stroll out to the end. The waves crash at the base near land and occasionally splash upwards, but...More

We stayed in the Strand Hotel with a room overlooking this pier. We did walk past the land end but did not actually go on the jetty. The main attractions appeared to be restaurants. In essence the structure is a jetty or pier, but the...More

The jetty is a landmark feature in Swakop and offers a different view of the town with a breath of fresh air from the onshore breeze. Well worth a walk to the elevated section at the end.

A wonderful place to visit. Many memories of my childhood. Sorry there are no longer any fishermen allowed to fish off the jetty. They’ve held the authenticity of the jetty very well. Thank you for keeping it alive

A good way to waste 15 minutes and get a different perspective on Swakopmund. Very windy a lot of the time so hold onto your hats and don't get splashed by the rollers crashing in!

It certainly wasn't bad. it was a lovely stroll to the end of the Jetty. There was a restaurant there which did peak my interest but it was freezing with the wind and cold front coming though. I didn't see any history about the jetty...More

The Swakopmund jetty is a jetty among other jettys, though its history is interesting. The sunsets are beautiful, the wind strong and the sea gulls expert flyers. In either end of the Jetty there's a good restaurant and the view towards the city and the...More
