Amazing to see so many flamingos

Stopped here on a cruise on the Queen Mary 2. Good to walk around the waterfront and photograph the flamingos. Some of our group saw dolphins in the bay too.

The waterfront here very cool and bustling with life, especially tons and tons of flamingos and other birds and the restaurant at the end of the pier is really cool.

It was so easy to get up relatively close to the flamingo. Could get great photo's. Also saw dolphins in the bay. Interesting house architecture.

During a cruise ship stop, my husband and I took a beautiful stroll around the bay in Walvisbaai. Even though the day was a bit windy and low tide, there were people wading and splashing in the tranquil water, families and dog walkers strolling along too. Everyone we passed said hello and good morning to our friendly smiles. We stopped... More

The main waterfront walk is near the cruise ship docks. During our 2 visits to the waterfront walkway via a tour bus, the pink flamingos were everywhere. It is an upscale and safe area. Across the street are several nice condos and a very cool Chinese hotel.

Great walk for early morning, with the noise of the Flamingo's,and the water near by. Sit down and wait while the Flamingo's get closer as if they know you will be taking their photograph. Many other birds to see too.

The relative calm of Walvis Bay is welcome after the crowds and tat of Swakopmund. The perfect and reliable spot to view the flamingoes. Sadly the environmental impact of local development is serious, but quickly forgotten when viewing the quirky personalities of the flamingoes. Not much else along the water here - which is the draw. Spend a few minutes,... More

Looking over the lagoon. Pelikan point light house on the horizon. Flamingos and pelikans flying by. The last South limit of life in the Namib sands. (Lüderitz is 400 km further South, and no road beyond the dunes). Sand Wind blowing across!!!! And still, beautiful ! And nice places such as "the Raft" The restaurant/bar where most people go for... We had a casual stroll along the waterfront looking at the wildlife. Obviously the famous pink flamingos were the biggest attraction.

After Luderitz on a Sunday, Walvis Bay seemed like a hub of activity! The waterfront gives a nice view of the cold Atlantic sea, but best of all are the hundreds of beautiful flamingos ...their movement around the pools of water left by the outgoing tide makes the flamingos look as if they are dancing. When they take flight they... More
