We did a "secret trail" with local guide which starts at the entrance to Volcano Baru national park and is a round trip with takes around 4 hours. Amazing views, weather is changing every five mints so layers are advisable. camera just can't capture all the variety of colours.

It was a beautiful morning when we ventured up to the top of the volcano by jeep. Incredible view above the clouds and the sunrise was spectacular.

Wow I awoke at 445 and was hiking by 6. Hauled a cab and started my hike at the entrance. I got to watch the morning awake. Saw plenty of stars and caught the sunrise off different cliffsides. It was nice to hike it in the morning to see all the bird species. It is also very beautiful. I made... More

This trip is not for the faint of heart. We took the jeep tour leaving at 5am in the morning. Lucky for us it was dark all the way up the steep mountainous roads to the top of the volcano. The view at sunrise is spectacular. You can actually see on a clear day both oceans-Pacific and Caribbean. Its one... More

Went with Cesar (FB: Cesar Augusto Gonzalez) He's very professional ,easy going and speaks good English . We made it to the top in 3hr 50minutes in his 76th climb ,but we feel regret because it's freezing on the top before sunrise. Its truly tough ,but the view from the top makes your every step worth it ! It becomes... More

Volcan Baru, highest point in Panama, is around 11,400 feet at the summit, but we never got past 8,000 in our hikes. Still, it is wonderful that this national park exists (and joins adjacent Amistad international park, which includes part of Costa Rica as well). Rushing rivers tumbling down through the Cloud Forest, birds in such abundance I could not... More

Climbing vulcan baru was a big challenge. 6 hours to the top in the dark (we started hiking at midnight) and 5 down. We reached the top at 5.45u: just in time to see the sunrise. And this was stunning!! Above the clouds we could see the Caribbean and the Pacific. Awesome. Though it was a though hike, we couldn't... More

People warned us that the hike from Cerro Punto would be the 'marriage breaker', but it definitely isn't as bad as that. The climb is steep, but definitely feasible if you are in a good shape. The views are magnificent, especially if you take the west route starting in Punto Cerro. The way down to Boquete starts to get boring... More

+ Breathtaking 360¤ view on the top with an unforgettable sunrise + Intriguing hike through the jungle with steps and stones (you do not need a guide) +/- start in a wet, warm humid climate and reach a mountain peak freeze on the top - Your body won't forget for the next week neither (I had a strange pain in...
