The climb was a roller coaster of emotions, also my body experienced so many symptoms for the first time but I made it. When we got to the end I was so rewarded and proud, even though it was raining and I was cold. What...More

I have climbed up for two years in a row and i cant get enough. I prefer going up from the volcan town rather than boquete, cause is much faster and you have a better view of the crater going up from volcan. You dont...More

It is beautiful up there but you have to be prepared for a long night treck. It took us 6 hours to go up there and 4 hours and a half to go down.. the end is the worst part. But it worth it when...More

We took this trek via Beyond Adventures. While the ride was understandably rough on the unfinished road, our guide was an able driver, and he and his crew did everything they could to ease the trip. (Advisory: if you get motion sick, take a Dramamine...More

We visited the volcano at night, some hostels arrange shuttle busses that drop you off at the foot of the volcano at midnight. Hiking 13.5km up in darkness with flashlights, and on top waiting for the sunrise which is just beautiful. Make sure to bring...More

This is a definite must for the more Adventurist hiker, have only hiked a small portion, very scenic. Good idea to notify friends or relatives before the hike as the park ranger is not always on site.

For me this was a very tough outing. Most of the trek is done on what was a road built to bring tourists by vehicle to the top of the volcano but the road has been destroyed by flooding and rocks being swept down breaking...More

Hi Elaine from Maine! Sometimes the accommodations offer a pick up service. If yours doesn't offer that service they'll know for sure, how to get back to Cerra Punta. Enjoy your trip

Hi Arweiner it's a dirt road with some rocky parts but it's definitely technically not challenging and also not super steep. The challenge is more the distance of 14 kilometers (approx. 6.7 miles) and the altitude starting... More
