Climbing vulcan baru was a big challenge. 6 hours to the top in the dark (we started hiking at midnight) and 5 down. We reached the top at 5.45u: just in time to see the sunrise. And this was stunning!! Above the clouds we could see the Caribbean and the Pacific. Awesome. Though it was a though hike, we couldn't... More

People warned us that the hike from Cerro Punto would be the 'marriage breaker', but it definitely isn't as bad as that. The climb is steep, but definitely feasible if you are in a good shape. The views are magnificent, especially if you take the west route starting in Punto Cerro. The way down to Boquete starts to get boring... More

+ Breathtaking 360¤ view on the top with an unforgettable sunrise + Intriguing hike through the jungle with steps and stones (you do not need a guide) +/- start in a wet, warm humid climate and reach a mountain peak freeze on the top - Your body won't forget for the next week neither (I had a strange pain in... The best option for do this is walking... to can grab a taxi in Boquete to the entrance of the park. The best time is start ascending at 11pm to arrive at the top before sunrise. See and enjoy and amazing sunrise and start to go down when you are ready. The trekking path is not technical but is 13,50... More

We drove up to Volcan Baru National Park with the intention of hiking and birdwatching. But unfortunately, it started raining so there wasn't any wildlife to be seen. But the scenery was beautiful. We would definitely put this on our list to revisit another time.

Really amazing trek. No need for a guide as there is a road/track all the way but I would recommend not doing it unless you have the following: Reasonable level of fitness Warm clothes including a rainjacket, hat and gloves(or spare socks in my case!) Enough food, snacks and water to get you there and back (circa 8 hours) Headtorch... More

We did a day hike of the lower region with Charli from Highland Tours. We saw tons of agave plants in bloom and the volcano hummingbird (Selasphorus flammula) feeding on the blossoms. Beautiful area, very different from the cloud forest that we were staying in. Next time I'll plan to hike to the summit.

Beautiful, with a lot of scenery and local farms. Heard but did not see Howler Monkeys. Beautiful views of the villages down below and the sunrise.

14km up and down the volcano with a 1,6km height difference. We hiked this mountain in the middle of the night with a shuttle from hostel Mamallenas. It was quite rough for someone like myself, in shape but no prior hiking experience. Impossible to do without good shoes (hiking/trail running) But the view... amazing. We were lucky to be able... We hiked roughly 7 miles with a guide and the view at the top was amazing! Every level of the trail brought on a new sight. Pictures will never do it justice. Would love to do again some day.
