Hiked from the dirt road 3 KM to the ranger station. Before the hike we spent 60 minutes watch a few Quetzals. Beautiful birds. The hike up is steep with nice views.

We had the pleasure of visiting this park with a guide. Unless you're an experienced hiker, riding part way up the volcano with a guide is the way to go. And go you must!

This is a beautiful area. If you have the chance, I recommend hiking up here. We started here and hiked the Quetzal Trail to Boquete. It is worth getting a guide just for the knowledge of the land that they will have. We booked through...More

I dont have much experience with climbing vulcanoes and i heard from people with experience in Guatemala that Volcán Barú is more a second best option, but the hike itself is a great challenge. In less than 12hrs you walk 27km and incline 2km. The...More

Yes you can hike to Volcan Baru without a guide and it's very easy to find the path, BUT: I would really recommend anyone new with hiking to consider about this path from Boquete. It's going to be 28 kilometers up and down with ruff...More

Not aware of a shuttle but there is a road that is bit of a challenge and not very well marked. Our friends hiked to Boquete from Volcan with a guide and loved it. Not ME!

Hi Elaine from Maine! Sometimes the accommodations offer a pick up service. If yours doesn't offer that service they'll know for sure, how to get back to Cerra Punta. Enjoy your trip
