Well worth a visit. Quite a long walk to where you get on the boats but ok if you're reasonably fit. Wildlife to spot during this walk - beautiful butterflies!!! We are 64 and 70 and managed it easily! Very peaceful on the lake with...More

I was here for 4 days in August. It is a beautiful lake filled with wildlife. I was a sloth, 4 types of monkeys, river otters, caimen, tones of birds, frogs, spiders, and more. The nicest thing is that no motorized boats are allowed on...More

A canoe visit to Lago Sandoval is a great way to get a better understanding of the birds and wildlife that live in the jungle. It is calm, beautiful and interesting.

The lake is really peaceful. We watched an otter family feeding and playing. Saw lots of monkeys too. And plenty of birds. We left at dusk and walked back to the Amazon with our guide in the dark with torches. Lots of tarrantulas!

BEAUTIFUL lake only a hike away from the main road. Definitely worth seeing the nature, animals, and scenery. The biodiversity is amazing and the scene looks like it is taken right from a tropical postcard. Definitely a must-see (boat tour was great)!

Lake Sandoval is reached via a jungle hike on a muddy trail. In the rainy season (we were there in June; the dry season) the trail might be impassible. Still, ours was a serpentine path avoiding all the mud holes; but it's fun! You'll board...More
