Unfortunately you will have to stop here if you’re going to the very worthwhile Isla Taquile. I did want to buy, however, a cool scale model reed boat.

Would never have gone here if we had known how touristy it would be. The islanders show you around their floating island with no enthusiasm whatsoever and they don’t seem happy to have visitors although they do seem very interested in your money. All seems...More

I visited Uros Islands with All Ways Travel, who took us to an island for a 10 minute demonstration of how they're built with reeds. This was followed by another 20 minutes or so with a native family who showed us their home, dressed us...More

This was by far the worst thing inhale done in all my time travelling around the world. Everything was so fake and staged with the essence and uniqueness of the islanders lifestyle being degraded by capitalist demands for entertainment and excitement. My partner and I...More

It was arranged by our hotel manager and instead of doing the totally touristic tour we aimed for the off the tracks one, superb! Felt incredibly authentic and real!

We met some of the nicest people on earth here. They gave us a thorough and meaningful orientation to the history and the culture of the area. I would regard myself as a poorer person if I had not been here. And, of course, we...More

Visited this island and had a warm welcome. A good display of culture but so geared towards getting money out of you

These floating islands are a wonder to be seen but they smell to high heavens! Worth the time spent to see them and remember to get your passport stamped, cost 1 Sol!

Very mechanical, fake and even embarrassing. I wouldn't recommend visiting it to anyone. There are much better attractions close to Puno.

Deb k is right. The best is to go in the evening, because there are less tourists. If you not go, it's kind of okay. ;)

There are lots of buses that run between Puno and La Paz so should be easy to sort once you are in Puno. Maybe just check with your hostel/hotel for recommendations. You have to get off the bus at the border, sort your... More
