We really enjoyed the views. It was a clear day and we could see the snow capped mountains in Bolivia. Its amazing how almost the entire island has been divided into terraces for farming. We were also sort of surprised at how much the water out here looked like the ocean - very clear not at all like the murky... More

Boat journey from Puno lasts over an hour. Island about 2 1/2 miles long and inhabited for centuries. After disembarking there is a modest uphill walk which will remind you of the altitude. Lots of locals in traditional dress and restaurants en route to the main square. Agriculture on terraced hillsides with few livestock. Weaving a major industry. From main... More

This island seems to exist for tourist visits only. The view and food offered is excellent but the presentations too touristy for our liking.

I should have done my homework before this excursion. I assumed that an island visit would include a walk around the island, see a village and experience a different landscape. But no, our group was ushered directly from the boat and into a private yard to watch a weaving and dancing demonstration, then straight back on the boat. I'm sure... More

My husband and I visited Taquile island following an overnight stay on Amantini island. We walked up to the main plaza with a few shops around it. Ther was a co-operative which sold knitted garments that had a fixed price - no negotiations. This island has no dogs or horses and ther are no cars or bycicles. We walked to... More

You walk through a living museum place (which is not everbody's preference, at least not ours) which is very nice. So spending some time here is nice, but...

We took a boat tour on Lago Titicaca that included the floating Uros islands and Taquile Island. It is a full day tour but so bring a book. The floating islands are very interesting and the Uro people very welcoming. The process of building an island out of reeds was explained and then we were given another boat ride on... More

We were staying at Tierra Viva Puno Plaza and they arranged a tour for us to both the Uros Islands and Taquille on Lake Titicaca. Make sure you take a tour with a high speed boat to get their quickly. Well worth the extra money. We loved Taquille. Such a beautiful island. When they let us off the boat we walked... More

We came here on a boat tour and were really impressed by its beauty. Really enjoyed the walk across the island and had a great lunch overlooking the square on one side and a view of the ocean on the other. A great day.

My husband did all the planning for this trip, so I didn’t know where we were going or what to expect. This Island was stunning! It was a beautiful day with great temperature! Everything was green and flowered! Food was good and people were very nice! I was surprised with how much we have to climb. This is not for... More
