Taquile island is not as famous as Uros but is definitely worth a visit. It's located roughly 2 hours beyond Uros and it's remoteness means it's been untouched by time. For the last 500 years the customs are unchanged. No motorised vehicles here and the...More

So glad that we made the effort to go to this island. Its approx 1hr 30min from Puno harbour and well worth the trip. It is very peaceful and tranquile even if there are many tourists there. If it wasn't for the tourists the local...More

Generally part of visiting Lake Titicaca and sure a must do, but be informed that it is a very tourist island. HOWEVER the locals keep their traditions, they keep traditional clothing and also show you their handcrafts. I got myself a warm nice handmade scarf...More

The island is just wonderful. The people leaving there represent a truly different culture (ie way of dressing) compared to the lake shore. The only negative point is that the island has been constructed to accommodate a high flow of tourist and this flow is...More

We were lucky to book our Lake Titicaca excursion with a tour group that had a catamaran, so had time at the end of the day to visit Taquile. The island itself is beautiful, with great views across the lake and over to Bolivia. A...More

To best take in the beauty of this small island, a slow, gentle walk around the countryside is a must.
