National Geographic July 2004 edition has a doom & gloom theme, but the paintings are bright, extensive & remarkably well preserved. Most of the visitors to Huaca de Moche (Sol y Luna) also wanted to visit El Brujo, until certain guide books (& even the...More

This site and discovery has been touted worldwide, and for archaeologists it's something of a holy grail. Yet...and yet...the way it is laid out is irritating and badly organised. The fact that it is miles from anywhere isn't a problem, although it is an expense...More

I went here one morning with my study abroad group. It was interesting to see the ruins and see how different the Moche culture was from the Incas. We saw a cool dog at this ruin too! The views from the top of the ruin...More

This is an amazing place! Absolutely worthwhile! The 13-Km trip from the Panamericana Highway takes you through the fertile and incredible Chicama valley full of sugar cane and other crops. Nearing the coast you suddenly come upon two giant mounds of adobe (clay-based material) that...More

Visit El Brujo to see how colorful buildings were for ancient Peruvians. Then be sure to see the Lady of Cao Museum on the site.

Not a huge place, but very interesting and an excellent mummy. Staff were dressed as reenactors. It's on the ocean -- when we were there it was windy, so it wasn't too hot.

I hired a taxi for the day (New Takci ) which was 200 soles for 8 hours and I bought my driver lunch. The roads in Trujillo are of varying quality. However I'd say there are more unmade roads covered with potholes than there are...More

Small site and only one Huaca open. If you have been to the Huaca de la Luna it is less impressive, however the mummy makes up for it. Above all the mummy shows that woman could have a more prominent role in Moche culture. It...More

Interesting museum and location, very much like the Huaca del sol y La Luna, differentiated mainly by the mummified body of a local dignitary, the Lady of Cao, which is on display in the museum.

This site, and others from the Moche culture, are very impressive and worth visiting. A Pre-inca culture that is only now starting to emerge with new excavations.

For a full two hours we were the only visitors at the site. Which is an absolute shame, given the striking beauty of the place. Very well-kept, run by a private foundation. Not to be missed.
