I am not a huge fan of museums, but this one has so many neat artifacts & you don't need a week to get through it. I've actually been there several times. You always learn something new. I wouldn't take little ones there. Great family outing in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Come visit.

This was my 3rd time at the Seward House at Christmastime, a great time to see a beautifully decorated historical site in Auburn. While it's not huge, I get something different out of it every time, and the tours that are offered are fantastic. I highly recommend pairing a visit here with the Harriet Tubman Historical Park, though, of the... More

I live in Auburn NY and walk by the Seward House museum daily. The yellow brick house is a joy to tour. It is filled with period 1840-1860's furnishings. The story of this loving family is interesting, too, although filled with some sadness. If you enjoy china and silver, then come to this house. Seward was given china when he... More

this is a great place to visit our great countries history. I highly recommend it for home schooled families, anyone that is interested in learning about local history, American History, the art displayed is a history lesson alone and worth the small fee charged to enter into this wonderful history lesson.

One of the treasures of Auburn, NY. Seward's was attacked by Booth's gang of assassins, he secured Alaska for the United States, his family were abolitionists, and more. Many treasures in the museum.

Stopped here while visiting family in the Syracuse area. As another reviewer said, this is truly a step back in time, and into the home life of the Seward family and Seward himself, a fascinating historical figure. The tour is guided and very well done with lots of historical detail. Most interesting part was the room devoted to the assassination... More

The Seward House is a gem. The Seward family did not throw anything away. All of the original furnishings are amazing. But even more amazing is the amount of history contained in this house. I have toured the house a number of times and I learn new things every time I visit. A very worthwhile tour. Touring at Christmas time... More

My husband and I really enjoyed spending some of our "date day" here. I am currently reading "Team of Rivals" book so I thought this museum would be interesting. It really was. We did a guided tour which was informative. Also it looks like they take care at keeping it clean and well maintained including tasteful holiday decor.

Of course like most I knew about Seward's 'foolish' but visionary purchase of Alaska. However, I was very surprised to learn about the wider conspiracy around Lincoln's assassination and its impact on Seward's life. The house itself is remarkable with its period furnishings and the commentary of the guide was very informative based on a depth of historical knowledge. Be... More
