There was a free shuttle bus out of the hotel, but I decided to walk to Manila this morning to see it, just out of curiosity, as I had just arrived there and was still in good spirits. Along the way, there were sites under demolition, sidewalks were rough, people were begging, there was a lot of traffic, but it was a little farther away from the city and there were few houses and it was a cluttered street. In the distance, you can see damaged low-rise houses under the high-rise apartment. It was a slow 20-minute walk to the eye, but we made it to a covered footbridge, where we got up close and personal with the spherical monuments we saw in the guidebook. Because it was not yet open, we strolled around the mall and near the coast, then waited for the opening of fast food restaurants that had already opened, eating our first Philippine meal. The food in the Philippines is delicious! However, the area around the mall is tense with guards holding shotguns or being alert. It was 10 o'clock and I checked my baggage at the entrance before entering the mall. On a side note, in Manila, there is a baggage screening when entering most buildings, commercial facilities, public facilities, train stations, etc. It is a weekday, but there are quite a few customers from morning. Immediately, we walked around the vast mall, stopping to find the general store and souvenir shop that my family had asked for, looking into a huge supermarket, but there were few signs to guide us to the store, so it was difficult to find the one I was looking for. The mall had many brand-name shops and restaurants that are familiar in Japan, and it is true that it is the largest shopping mall in the Philippines. I wanted the sweets and bakeries to also have colorful cakes on display (I later bought a whole cake at a supermarket near the hotel and ate it over the course of a few days). The SM supermarket at the north end of the mall has everything from groceries to daily necessities, and I bought barramaki sweets and sundries for work on my first day. In addition to the first meal, the first Jollibee was the MOA store of the day. However, my impression of walking around Manila for 8 days was that I expected to visit MOA, Green Hills and Ayala Greenbelt area before I arrived, but when I actually visited, I personally thought I would have enjoyed 999 Mall, 168 Mall, Divisoria Mall, Baclaran Market near the hotel and Kiapo Market in Cariedo, which were rumored to be insecure. Whenever I travel to Asia, I always go for a foot massage, or to a night market, a local market, or an SC that says danger by word of mouth, but compared to those, the Manila clerks are not pushy, they are laid-back and I like them.

This time, my visit was very quick to just purchase a few snacks for onward travel as my stay in Manila was brief.

The SM Hypermarket has an excellent range of food and clothing.

The shopping centre was not crowded at 1500 hours but if one returned at say 1730, it's highly likely more shoppers would be visiting.

This is not my favourite Asian mall as it's built 'out' rather than 'up' meaning it can be a significant walk from one desired shop to another.

Guards are helpful if one cannot find a cafe or shop. As in most Filipino malls, they have excellent knowledge as to where each outlet is.

Taxis are numerous and not expensive, provided the driver switches on the meter.

Anyway, a big shopping mall. We can't go around in a day. In addition to the shopping mall, the concert arena and convention center are adjacent.

There are also many restaurants where adults and children can enjoy.

During the Christmas season, a large tree decorates the area to lift the mood.

There are dances and other events throughout the mall, and it is fun just to walk around the mall.

Since there is not much of an overall view or map of the mall, the building may be different if there are no shops you want to visit.

You can buy Filipino food and sundries at a store called KULTURA, so this is the only way to buy souvenirs.

Excellent rating for this mall. This is my second time visiting the Philippines and the reason I stay in the Mall of Asia area is the proximity to the airport (NAIA) and other attractions. The mall has everything you need or would want on any given day. You need a massage? MOA has it. Movies, skating rink, food courts, beauty salons, barbers shops, archery, groceries, electronics, dental and medical service, you name it and you can find them here. Good restaurants are plentiful and you can get almost any dish from around the world including some of the best known brands. The hotels are nearby and can be a 5-10 minute walk to/from the mall. and most of the nearby hotels would have shuttle service to/from the mall. The place is always clean and security is excellent. The place can be packed on weekends.

A mall is a mall...but this one is a treat. It has everything....stores, food, and of course crowds. You could easily spend an afternoon just walking around. Lots of local and Western stores and eateries. Safe and clean and kid friendly. Prices were on par with the US.

Revised review

i do not reccomend ice skating

The rink is not maintained. Chunks and deep grooves through out, NO Zamboni machine ever came out between skate times. The skates are so old and literally falling apart there must be no limit to the amount of tickets they sell so the ice rink is jammed. Too jammed to skate ...lets all block the ice and stand around and take selfies The whole experience was terrible. complete rip off! about 9.00 USD each. skates smelled terrible

Never go to Mall of Asia SM Hypermarket especially during weekends because the long line in the counter . When i went there I started lining up to pay for my groceries at 9pm and i reached the cashier at 9:40pm. 40minutes of waiting in the line just to pay for your stuff??? They need to assign more cashier especially during Rush hour .
Other Hypermarkets also have a lot of customers too but they have sufficient Cashiers to Serve the Customers.

SM Mall of Asia, is a large shopping mall in the Philippines, located at Bay City, Pasay, Philippines, within the SM Central Business Park, a reclaimed area within Manila Bay, and the southern end of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA)
The mall is currently the largest shopping mall in the Philippines following the opening of IKEA Pasay City at the mall's complex. starting 2021, and the third in the world It opened in 2006

Following the mall's opening in 2006, it caused several smaller shopping malls nearby to close, such as the Pearl Plaza and the Uniwide Coastal Mall, both located in Tambo, Parañaque. However, this is changing with the rise of other malls and similar structures such as the Ayala Malls Manila Bay and W Mall.

This was the mall closest to our hotel connected by hotel shuttle. It may no longer be the largest mall in Asia or even in the Philippines but it sure is big. It is large and bustling with shoppers from around the world. Compare that to the malls in the USwhich have closed or are struggling. This one has tons of restaurants both inside and on the outside walkway of all prices. The supermarket is awesome and the department store has good service and fair prices. The only smoking area is behind the Starbucks in the west side of the mall. There are sufficient restrooms and while it appears they are constantly getting cleaned they are in rather poor repair. Sinks not working. Toilets blocked off for eventual repIr, low on toilet paper, sometimes no paper towels, sometimes no soAp. Since the mall is so big and so much walking is involved it would be nice if there were some benches to sit and rest. A note: some of the merchants have provided limited seating outside their stores for that reason.at the main entrance they pass out flyers regarding property available for sale in Manila. Money can be exchanged at the front entrance at fair rates. No paper maps of the mall available. If you pay by credit card you must present a photo ID at the stores.
