Nice square, full of people with amazing buildings, although some of them need refurbishment. It is the best place in the city to feel the atmosphere, especially when the weather is sunny. Roam around the fountain and sit at the bench to rest.

In the heart of the city, nicely and carefully maintained, with a statue of a wolf with Romulus and Remus, this is one of the most popular places in Timisoara. There is a beautiful fountain on the Square as well. One cannot but admire the beauty of it.

The main central square of Timisoara. It's the symbol of the Romanian revolution. Here you can find a lot of the main attractions including Timișoara Orthodox Cathedral, Romanian National Opera House, Timisoara National Theatre and Politehnica University of Timișoara. Numerous restaurants/cafes along either side of the square. It's around a 1 mile walk away from Timisoara Nord train station!

We really enjoyed walking around this area and relaxing with the birds and all the locals. On a nice day you can see the children running around feeding the birds and the people sitting watching life go by on the benches. Lots of little places to eat and things to do around this area and the history of the revolution... More

The main square in the city or the "Revolution square" is including Opera House and the National Theatre, the Rectorate of the Politehnica University, a nice park with a small fountain, the statue of Romulus and Remus children with the wolf (copy got from Mussolini), the Ortodox cathedral. All beautiful main attractions in the city. Also, you may enjoy nice... More

The main central square of Timisoara. You'll find here the Cathedral, the Opera House, a very nice fountain with metal fishes, many terraces, and so on. Very nice, with many flowers. In winter there's a Christmas market, a nice Christmas scenary (with live sheep that our kids like a lot), and so many lights once it's getting dark outside. Surely... More

This square is our most favourite place to hang out and visit within the old town. With the opera house one end and the cathedral its opposite it is more like a regal boulevard than a square. The sad part of its history. During the uprising in 1989 many people were shot on the stairs of the cathedral mostly children.... More

Victory Square has on one side Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral and on the opposite side the Opera House, the Romanian, Hungarian and German Theatres. In between are many pubs and terraces, from Gelateria Bruno to Timisoreana Restaurants. A good place to drink a beer or a coffee or to eat an icecream during summer time. In the evenings are a lot... Piata Victoriei Square, formerly known as Operei, is one of the central squares of the city of Timisoara. This is where Timisoara was proclaimed the first free city of Communism. From Opera to Cathedral, the promenade on the right is called "Corso" and the left "Surrogate". Both ensembles of historical significance.
