It’s a shame that a reputable theatre allows itself to perform ballet to a tape recorder instead of the live orchestra. No prior notice, no reduction in ticket prices, yet it still happens here. Dark and empty orchestra pit and poorly balanced loudspeakers instead.

There's no dress code, but you have to remember that Russians tend to think of theater as a special event, and for the most part, people try to dress up for it. I personally glare at people in jeans or sneakers at the opera... More
