The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy is one of the largest exhibitions, museums and recreation complexes in the world. It is one of the most popular public places of the Russian capital. It hosts more than 19 million guests per year. The Exhibition was opened on 1 August 1939. Its name has changed several times, i.e. VSHV ВСХВ, VPV ВПВ, VDNH USSR ВДНХ СССР, ВВЦ VVC. In spring 2014 the Moscow City Government launched a large scale project of the VDNH’s revival commemorated to the 75-year Anniversary of the main exhibition centre of the country. On the initiative of the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, and according to the results of citizens’ electronic voting the VDNH had its famous historical name of “Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy” returned. The name corresponds to VDNH in Russian. Now, the VDNH is combined with the Botanic Gardens and Ostankino Park. Its total area is more than 520 ha. On the territory of VDNH you can see many architectural masterpieces, large and small parks, and unique fountains. Forty-five sites at VDNH are recognized as cultural property sites of federal significance. More than 100 international exhibitions and congresses, dozens of festivals and special events as well as new expositions are held at VDNH yearly. With the revival of the open-air theater that was opened on 1 August 2014, the Exhibition achieved the status of popular outdoor performance stage hosting best world performing musicians from Russia and abroad. Come enjoy the VDNH!

The buildings and the park in general are worth a visit - it's amazing to see what they've build there. Be prepared for some really "weird" stuff - don't go there when you look for "cute" architecture. A few minutes away is the "Worker and...More

This place is a building site until 2018. I'm sure it'll be great when done but until then it gets one star. Even the public toilets were closed. We had to go to McDonalds to find one, and after checking out the Worker & Woman...More

Fantastic park, with a monument for each republic. The area is huge, so I would recommend to rent a bike :-)

If you tour European cities, often all you'll see is an old church or town square of some sort. The VDNH manages to distinguish itself from all these cliches. It's massive, the pavilions are visually interesting, and there is just a sense of scale that...More

It is a bizarre place... USSR collapsed many years ago but this park still exists with a huge statue of Worker and Kolkhoz (farmer) Woman at the entrance. Bear in mind that the exhibition is under reconstruction till summer 2018 (for Football world cup). Anyway,...More

Too many pavillions were under construction in summer 17. Lots of construction sites. Noise everywhere. At the end of the park, just opposite the Aquadome Park, there is a lovely canteen. Self service, very good food, Russian food and Russian people. A must to see....More
